Born into light when I wondered how our little Tabby would react to Ironsides demise in the movie verse.
They had never gotten along, her wild ways driving and pushing him away with good intentions and a child like hope of acceptance, but here she is weeping as they bury the one man who blindly accepted men and women into his home, his heart open and blinded by the vision of a bright future. Charles Xavier was the guiding light to mutants and those who protected them, and now he had been shot down by one of their own.
She’s put her hair down, letting it hang loose with the weight of guilt ebbing through the entire mansion, bogging her down with sadness and hatred towards Jean, frustrated that she never saw the kind doctor pressing and pushing against the barriers of humanity.
How could she, when she was so caught up in living the high life, fighting, cursing and partying with ever breath of her soul.
Xavier wasn’t a second father to her as he was to the others, nor a brother, or even an idol like Hank and Piotr...he was a better world shaped into a non judgmental smile and a smooth English voice, gently reprimanding and pushing her to associate with three men she would have never seen if it hadn’t been for him.
The three most important people in her life were brought on by Charles good intentions, Kurt with her danger room sessions who was silently weeping and praying in front of her, Rictor who stood strong his eyes red and teary eyed as he holds her hand like a lifeline, and Al. Alex Summers who had been the first to take her for who she was, and push back with all his down to earth ‘boring’ sanity and make sure the girl was never to put out.
She lets a tear fall when she sees Logan standing tall, proud and completely and utterly broken at the former telepaths headstone.
Burying her head into Kurt’s shoulder when he turns to her, Tabby breaths deep as her boys all hug her shoulders, taking comfort in the lasting bonds of their friendship.
Kurt is crying openly now, burying his blue head into her shoulder, soft voice broken and torn with grief of the one man who never made him feel like Nightcrawler the circus freak, only the amazing and sweet Kurt Wagner.
“Die Engel können mit uns sein werden.”
