I'm having a really hard time starting this entry, because I'm not sure what to write about. But the best way to write something anyway is to write something anyway, so here I am. Kodansha posted to Facebook today with their new releases, and nothing we translated made the cut so we were sad. But we checked Anime News Network's release list for this week anyway, because maybe something we translate for Yen Press hit the shelves, and lo and behold, there was My Little Monster 8!
...But as I was typing that paragraph, it occurred to us that ANN doesn't always get the memo when release dates are changed, so we just checked Amazon, and My Little Monster's been put off until next week. Boo! But at least that means the Kodansha Facebook poster wasn't discriminating against it, so that's good at least. Less good is that nothing we translated for Yen Press was released today, either, which means we won't be posting any reviews this week, alas.
That's kind of an extra bummer, because we'll be staying at Disneyland late to watch the fireworks tomorrow. That should be good news for us (I'm a little skeptical about the new fireworks show), but it's bad news for any hope we have of conversing with the outside world. ...Unless we, like, actually talk to real people in real life at Disneyland. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but...
Anyway. We've been thinking about how twins are portrayed in the media. Anybody got any good recommendations of stuff with twins that we can read or watch for research purposes? Not that we have time to do such research, but it could happen! Of course we're already familiar with Harry Potter, and Ouran High School Host Club, and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. We read a review of Age of Ultron that talked about how it was good that Pietro was orbiting around Wanda and not vice versa, and we thought, "Why does one of them have to be orbiting the other?" and then we wondered if it was a common thing in portraying twins in the media. Of course, as twins, we have more to say on the subject, but maybe not much more, hence the potential research.
And now I just remembered that we've had a request to tell the story of how we learned Japanese. I'm typing that here in the hopes that the act of typing it will help me remember to do that in the near future.
Today I'm thankful for being done with work for the day, getting to watch a lot of great anime yesterday (only Hamatora was new to us, but Arslan and Sailor Moon (and Danny Phantom) remain awesome), confirming that the Danny Phantom movies are part of the Hulu lineup, having plans to see Disneyland's new fireworks show, and having time to do some fun stuff tonight.
being twins,
