Exciting things
Yesterday was pretty exciting because...well, it was exciting for Athena in the scary sense, because she had to give a talk in sacrament meeting. But it was exciting in the fun sense later, because we had our first rehearsal for stake choir! Our stake conference is in a few weeks, and they're actually putting together a choir for it, and now we get to sing in a choir again, and it's awesome. (Even when we can scrounge together a choir for our own ward, Athena doesn't get to sing because she's directing it, and I don't get to sing because I'm the accompanist. And we like doing both of those things, too, but singing! It's a lot of fun.)
...I'm not sure I have much else to say about that, but I wanted to mention it because I am very excited about it.
The other exciting thing! Is that Athena did much better in (some of) last week's Nintendo World Championships challenges. For the Legend of Zelda challenge, she made it into the top 10%!
This week, one of the challenges is to play through the first Super Mario Bros. game from start to finish! But they show you where the warp zones are, so really, you only end up playing through about eight levels, total. I don't know if we were aware of this before, but today we learned that it is possible to start at the beginning and beat the last boss in Super Mario Bros. in just about ten minutes. (And Athena only got a B++ for that time, so clearly it's possible to do it much faster.)
But the real challenge is Excite Bike. No matter how hard she's tried (so far), she can't seem to get above a B. Obviously there are secrets to that game that are long lost to our memories, assuming we ever knew them. Our family never owned Excite Bike, so we only ever played it when visiting friends. I do seem to remember some exciting times with that game, but I remember zero of the details.
Today I'm thankful for getting to sing in a choir again!!!!, having a pretty interesting arrangement to sing, Athena doing really well in the Nintendo World Championships, work going really well, and completing another map in Pokemon Snap.
