Reckoning
Today is a day when all our dilly-dallying started to catch up to us. We started a volume of Cheeky Brat on Friday, which means we did the entire first draft then, and it's due tomorrow, so we had today and tomorrow to do the hard part of making the translation sound nice. This was already a fairly tall order, because Cheeky Brat is a very wordy series, which means it can also be rather time-consuming. We remained optimistic. And then we remembered.
This is the time of the month when our monthly simulpub comes in. Ha, ha, ha. Monthlies are twice as long as weeklies, so they take twice as much time! And! we got a couple of chapters of our...irregular...simulpub. I'm not sure what the timeframe is on that one; it just shows up when it shows up. So of course today would be the day. That just makes sense. XD The chapters are usually pretty short page-wise, but the text density can be unreasonably high...and that was true of these chapters.
Nevertheless, we managed to finish all the simulpubs and still have time to work on Cheeky Brat! Tadah! And fortunately, we made pretty good progress on Cheeky Brat, because one of the reasons we had time for it was that we didn't get the files for our Monday simulpub, which means we're almost sure to need to get that done tomorrow. But anyway, things turned out pretty well, so I'm feeling relieved and grateful.
Today I'm thankful for our monthly simulpub actually being ten pages shorter than usual this month, managing to surpass our work quota, still having time to watch Ghosts and play video games, our next batch of assignments being for historically less dense titles, and getting to work on a lot of fun manga.
