Dissatisfied

Oh man, we just watched Elation again, and it's such a good episode! But it hurts! I mean, it kinda ends on an optimistic note, so it gives us hope that future episodes will be super awesome, but having to wait for more episodes when that's the last one we get...it's rough. Fortunately, we only have two and a half weeks to go! ...Hopefully the ( Read more... )

Felix and Allegra’s very short relationship was forced. I’m honestly glad she didn’t end up with him because I’m tired of the best friends ending up together crap. Does it happen? Sure. But it is overused, and so many people are in toxic relationships, not allowing their partners to speak to certain people due to gender, because they believe men & women can’t be just friends. There will always be people like this, but when so many movies & books keep using this trope, it just adds to the madness. That’s not how attraction works- we aren’t attracted to everyone we’re friends with. And while it was obvious that Felix had feelings for her, it was also obvious she didn’t return them. So the ending of season 1 felt really forced. No chemistry. I think they only did that because they couldn’t think of anything else to do. That being said… we still don’t know who the father is. (Of any of the recent generations of Sharp women) Would it be crappy if it ended up being Felix? Absolutely. But… why is she Clara SHARP? Think about that one. Kind of seems like Clara might not know who her dad is either. And she did refer to Marco as hot in that one episode. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think that’s how I’d refer to my dad, even in his younger days. Lol. And why did she seem to know what to do with the necklace & the cat statue?

I wouldn't say it was super forced, because rebounds are a thing, too. But you're right that it probably wouldn't have been a great relationship. I don't think Felix had a problem with Allegra talking to other guys in general, just that Marco personally represented the end of all of his hope, so it hurt him to see her choose Marco over him. But I also agree that Allegra should be able to choose who she likes, too, and based on the ending of season two, that choice is clearly Marco, at least for now.

I think she's probably Clara SHARP because at this point, the women in that family keep their name, since that's just how it's been for generations. I think in this modern age, it's no longer a requirement for a woman to take her husband's name, or for a daughter to take her father's name. And I do think there was some indication that Marco is Clara's father, because when she met him, she had the same "can I just give you a hug!?" reaction that she did when she met Allegra. And it's possible to recognize how attractive a person is without being attracted to them, so Clara commenting on Marco's good looks is not necessarily an indication that she's not related to him, especially if she didn't really mean it and was only saying it in an attempt to get more information out of Allegra.

Her knowledge of how time travel works is definitely one of the mysteries to be revealed in season three, but I don't think it does anything to tell us how she's related to anybody, except to prove that she is, in fact, a Sharp woman.
