It has been a busy day! And not with just work, thankfully. In fact, work finished maybe a little bit early, which is especially nice, because we had a simulpub in addition to our regular work.
Oh but you guys, it was so cute. Just as we were finishing up work, Athena's phone started ringing, so she went to go answer it, thinking it probably meant it was a nephew or niece calling and therefore time to play Splatoon. But before she could answer it, it stopped ringing! It was from the nephew's phone, though, so Athena turned on the Switch, and sure enough, someone was playing Splatoon. So she turned on Splatoon, and then she got another phone call. It was Hagger, and the very first thing he said was, "You're playing Splatoon." Apparently, he called but then thought we might still be at work, so he decided not to bother us, the sweet little guy. But of course we're always happy to blow off work in favor of playing video games with the nieces or nephews! And we really were just finishing up, so the timing was perfect.
Then, in the middle of their game, Hagger said he was going to dinner, and ran off...without hanging up. (It's okay, nobody actually "hangs" their phones these days.) Then about twenty minutes later, he called back and apologized for leaving her hanging. So cute! (I wonder if he'd be embarrassed to read that... Oh well. I used a code name. It should be fine.)
The other thing that had us busy today was Intertwined! Season two hit Disney+ this very day. So we started watching it, and it's great so far! ...Except. As we were enjoying the first episode, Athena noticed that when Felix said something in English, the captions said, "[In English]". Then when the characters went back to Spanish (after two words), the captions said, "[In Spanish]". But these are supposed to be English Closed Captions, which means they should be a transcription of the English dialogue, which means it shouldn't have to specify if he's speaking English or Spanish, or Felix would have said "the end" in a not English language, and the captions would say [In (not English language)], then [In English]. In other words, these are not closed captions--these are subtitles!
That's not really a problem; it's just an oddity. And since we're language nerds, it made Athena curious, so she pulled up the subtitle options to see what was up, and that's how we found out the saddest thing. There is no French audio. We're sincerely hoping it's just a "not yet" situation, and French audio will be added later, but considering that Disney+YourSoul is cutting costs all over the place, we're not so confident this time. So if by some strange twist of fate there are any French fans reading this LiveJournal who have Disney+, please go watch Allegra and let them know there's enough demand for it to maybe get a French dub of season two.
In the meantime, we continue our life of waiting for French audio on the shows we like. But we're still really enjoying it, even if we can't go back and watch certain scenes with our favorite voice actor.
And the other exciting news is that our Miraculous macarons (Miracarons?) arrived today! We haven't even tried them yet, and I already have a ton of things to say about them! ...But I will save that until after we've tried them, so I can give the full report.
Today I'm thankful for work going well, our sweet nephew being so considerate, getting to watch more Intertwined, our Miracarons arriving, and getting to amuse myself with made up words.
