These ones aren't all as universally true, but to at least be familiar with what the statement is referring to is a sign up being an upstater! I only included the ones that are true for me. Read on...
You know what a REAL halfmoon is (Why did Hemstroughts leave?). For non upstaters, a halfmoon is also known as a black and white.
You know that tomato pie is not your typical pie.
You know we have Italian restaurants that cannot be compared to any others.
You love Utica Club, or at least know of it.
You know where Saranac Thursday is held.
You know that the Kenyans win the Boilermaker year after year.
You know of The Great American Heart Run & Walk.
You call it the thruway, not "the 90."
Pop is something you do to bubble wrap.
You can actually distinguish a difference between all of the "Tony's Pizzas."
You have no tolerance for pizzeria chains (i.e.: Domino's, Little Ceasars etc.).
You hear "It's Utica Monday Night Folks" on the TV everyday during the summer. "See ya there."
There's family fun for everyone at the ... Utica Zoo YEAH!
You know Riverside Mall was an actual mall.
You know Sangertown sooner or later is going to sink.
You can drive 20 minutes in any direction and find a Wal-Mart Supercenter.
You remember when ConMed was Lockheed Martin, before that Martin Marietta, and before that, GE.
You still call Eckerd's- Fays, or Fay's - Carl's.
You know who the Mohawk Valley Prowlers were.
You know to drive out of your way after a long night of drinking before driving through New Hartford or NYMills. (But not drinking and driving...just beware of NH and Clinton cops ALWAYS!)
You get your pastries from the Florentine or Cafe Caruso's.
You know what Schultz and Dooley is.
You've been on the Utica Brewery Tour & the trolley.
You stop in The Bagel Grove to pick up your baker's dozon.
You've been to the Stanley at least once in your lifetime. (And you used to perform on stage there!)
You take the Westmoreland Exit 32 when driving from the West (from Buffalo) & the Utica Exit 31 when driving from the East (from Albany).
You know you're from Utica when you don't say 'god bless you' after someone says 'O'Scugnizzo'!
You know who Bill Worden is.
