E's high chair has been in the family for about 20 yrs. Except we had no idea that it was a high chair.
The company Dad worked for used to have a furniture store in Centrepoint. Manufacturers/importers would send them samples to consider carrying. One of which was a chair made of several pieces of wood. However, The Powers That Be deemed that it would not sell as it was rather pricey. So Dad brought the chair home. We used it as a chair-cum-stool-cum-step-ladder for years until Mum dismantled it and put it into storage a couple of years ago.
When I started roaming maternity shops such as Mothercare when pregnant, I saw s similar chair. Turns out what we had in storage was a
Stokke Tripp Trapp chair designed to grow with the child, which I think is a brilliant concept. Having saved on the cost of the chair itself, I splurged on the Baby Set and Harness to convert it to a high chair for E.
This is the older (pre 2010) version of the Baby Set. The Mothercare staff said that the 2010 model would most likely not fit on pre-2010 Tripp Trapps. Actually, they mentioned that customers had given feedback that this version of the Baby Set did not fit older (abt 8 yr old) Tripp Trapps. I must admit that the back support was not a perfect fit (a few mm too snug), but nothing that a little tinkering could not solve.
Why this colour combination? It was the only pre-2010 version they had in store that day. :P But I think it worked out very well.
