Yes hello hi, talk to me about books and actors
So I started a project: fancasting ALL THE THINGS. IDK, it seemed like a fun thing to do with Photoshop but unfortunantely I'm a perfectionist so it's kind of a big operation for me - currently combing through IMDB and brainstorming which is very literal in my case (a sample of my thought process: "DISCWORLD! OMG SAM VIMES! WHO SHOULD PLAY -- DRESDEN FILES! WHO TO PLAY HARRY? AND MURPHY? OMG GENDERBENT DRESDEN FILES! THAT GUY FROM THAT THING! THAT ACTRESS! OH AND I NEED TO CAST ANGUA AND CARROT AND THOMAS AND MARCONE AND DIBBLER AND I SHOULD REALLY RE-READ ALL THESE BOOKS WHILE DOING THERE AND OH LOOK THERE'S TUMBLR I SHOULD UPDATE AND HEY I GOT AN E-MAIL AND - WAIT, FOCUS: DISCWORLD, DRESDEN FILES, OHHH AND I SHOULD DO SOME VIDEO GAMESSSS OMG OWW MY BRAIN HURTS.").
Which is why I'm here, because blogging tends to focus my attention a bit, plus I wouldn't mind hearing if any of you have any thoughts. My various projects so far:
* Discworld: City Watch series
* Discworld: Witches series
* Discworld: combined show with characters from all series
* Dresden Files
* Genderbent Dresden Files
* Tomb Raider (2013) game
* Left 4 Dead game
Obviously casting mainly with TV shows in mind, because that's my jam, and yes I know there are miniseries of DW and a mostly terrible Syfy (back when it was Sci Fi) TV version of Dresden but I'm aiming higher here. Like, Game of Thrones higher. Although the video games would probably make for better movies, atleast if they were to stay close to the source material, but ... pfffhhhh.
BTW this is both making me realize I should read more and making me relieved I don't - my brain couldn't handle any more fancasting ideas.
So yeah, right now I'm just browsing IMDB like I have ADD, jumping from one idea/actor/list to the next, and desperately trying to resist the urge to cast Tatiana Maslany as everyone. COME ON, YOU KNOW SHE COULD PULL IT OFF. YES, EVEN SAM VIMES, I'M PRETTY SURE. I also found this hilarious site about Discworld fancasting, except that it has the randomest and dumbest suggestions like someone either made a mistake or is joking: Arnold Schwarzenegger or Colin Salmon as Angua? Come on son! Not even in a genderbending scenario does that make any sense.
But basically just: come talk to me about fancasting, adaptations, actors, etc, whatever? If you read Discworld and/or the Dresden Files (as you should), how do you picture everyone? Do you have any favorite fancasts (of these things or other)? Have you made any yourself? What actors do you wish were on your screen?
