I have a pretty good handle on American Networks (and a couple of British/Canadian, too) for a Swede, I like to think - I make a point of knowing where my shows come from, and hell, it's hard NOT to pick up on atleast the big basic ones if you read TV news at all. For me it's kind of turned into a meta-real life-soap opera thing, or perhaps a really bad sitcom*, with the big networks being the main cast supported by the wee little networks. There's the mustache-twirling villian, Fox, stomping down poor defenseless genre-shows before ever giving them a real chance, there's the bumbling, embarrassing clumsy dad NBC, who just can't seem to get it right but keeps clinging on to the fact that once upon a time he was cool, man! ABC is the botoxed, shallow-but-scheming trophy wife and CW is the rich trouble-teen of course, or possibly the 30-something hasbeen trying to claim she's still 18. CBS? Old grampa. Co-starring Syfy as The Geek, HBO and Showtime as the raunchy nudist neighbors without window-blinds, and introducing TBS as The Hero - saving shows from certain death in the nick of time.
*= A CBS one.
Being weird, yeah I know. This is just a long-winded, convoluted way for me to say:
Dear TBS - I didn't know you existed until you decided to pick up Cougar Town after ABC derped and accidentally put it in the cancelled-pile, but can I just say how glad I am that you do? And did? I would have cried tears of wine if this show had been completely cancelled - a true feat since I have never once in my life actually drunk wine (I sipped, once, it tasted icky). But instead the show is back, with surprise delightful Dawson-reunion cameos with Michelle Williams (I know she's a busy movie star but I sooo want a whole episode of those two) and all is right with the world. (Well, except mostly everything, but: figure of speech.)
Basically I'm just really really happy this show is back, and I also felt a serious need to be silly since I spent most of my evening listening to audiobooks about philosophy. I really should avoid that stuff, it's not good for me. :/
