Ugh, I'm in avoidance mode. In like, the BIG way where I'm avoiding so many different things I basically just end up avoiding ALL the things, even things I don't need or particularly want to avoid. >_< *Avoids them some more by talking about TV*
Watched the pilot of Grey's Anatomy Light as I'm going to call it because: yeah. Clichés aplenty, zero originality... Not a whole lot of mitigating factors at all, sadly, because I'd like nothing more than to stare at Justin Hartley (especially in glasses that make him approximately 35% hotter). And Michael Rady isn't too bad either, but ... yeah, no. BTW, I had ZERO clue that Mamie Gummer was Meryl Streep's daughter until a bunch of articles of the past couple of days informed me of this. Why didn't this come up with Off the Map? I love nepotism in Hollywood! (Except Emma Roberts, but does anyone like her?)
So yeah, passing on this one, I have my fill of cutesy doctor drama in Hart of Dixie and compared to this, that show seems positively innovative.
I need to get around to watching the rest of the pilots, I'm planning on being selective though about what I continue to follow and not a whole lot of them seem very promising. My hope is that some of them eventually will turn out to be awesome and then I can catch up later, marathoning shows seems to work better for me. I don't have the patience for shows to make the same mistake other ones have already made, not on a week-to-week basis, I just don't. It makes me hate shows that I might otherwise like.
Also considering (possibly temporarily) dumping some shows that have just stopped being entertaining, if they seem worth it I can always pick them back up later. I don't want to because my TV schedule needs MORE shows, not less, but if I don't then I'll just get really sick of them and then never be able to stand watching them again. TV is in such a slump right now, yall. :(
Speaking of new shows, Animal Practice getting cancelled? That's a bit of a bummer, not because the show was actually good - it really wasn't - but because I quite liked a weekly dose of cute animals on my TV. Besides, it was far from the worst of the comedy crop this year, and the fact that it got canned before The Neighbors and Guys With Kids? Truly horrifying. (I didn't even watch the former, the trailer was enough to scar me for life. The latter I did watch, and then wish I didn't. Oh yeah, and Partners, also sadly terrible, I wanted to like it for David Krumholtz and Michael Urie but ... no. Just no.) And don't even get me started on the fact that they're bringing in WHITNEY to replace it. How is that show still alive?! It must be immune to cancellation somehow! Quick, whatever it is, someone bottle it and give it to Joss Whedon or Brian Fuller! And then exploit Whitney's weakened state to KILL IT WITH FIRE.
