Yeah, I get your point, but the thing is, I *REALLY* want to like this show. Like, more than any other show, I desperately want to love this one. And the thing holding me back, mainly, is the characters, so if I need to have some selective amnesia WRT s1 in order to not hate their guts and wanting them to be eaten by the zombies, then that's fine by me. Even if it means some shortcuts in character developement, which usually annoys me to no end. Obviously they could do it in a way that makes more sense, but I'll take what I can get at this point basically.
Agreed on Lori and Andrea, they're so ... harpy! They just bitch and snipe. And while I do agree on women's role on this show, I gotta say I agree with the decision to bring Otis over Bela. It was his screw-up, he shot Carl, so this was his chance for redemption. Not to mention, it's a dangerous mission so if anyone should risk their life for it, it should be him. That said, I would not have had the fat guy carry all the heaviest stuff, I was sure he's be zombie food at the end there. >_< Also, it might be annoying to watch, but I could also see it happen in real life. If modern civilization ends, maybe we'd revert back to the olden days in a heartbeat? Not to mention, it's the American south where it's fairly common for women to be stay-at-home moms - which I believe is the actual case with Lori and that woman whose daughter went missing - which means they were already in that position before the zombies.
Sorry, this is turning into like, an essay, I think I'm sort of starved for discussing this show with someone! I'll shut up now. XD
Yeah, it's enjoyable! At least to me, it is. It's too bad the new writers couldn't just do a whole reboot, because you can tell they're trying to fix stuff. But also, maybe they aren't genre writers and are having a hard time figuring out how to write a zombie apocalypse. We'll see, we'll see.
I... think the show actually said as much about modern civilization reverting back to traditional gender roles. And I completely disagreed with that. But while I enjoy discussing such things and it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the show, obviously not everybody is the same, so I'll leave it.
