Finally got started on my 3rd attempt (or 4th? IDK, it's been a lot of tries) at watching Friday Night Lights, since that seems to be just about the last non-AMC/HBO-show that everyone loves and I don't already watch. Still finding it extremely hard to get into, spending as much time as it does on sports and religion and sport-as-a-religion. Never could get my head wrapped around either of them, and combined it's just like everyone's talking gibberish. And I don't just mean the football jargon, although that too. Not really getting the warm fuzzies for many of the characters either which okay, early days, but still. I also hate the way it's filmed/directed/edited, but if I could get past it on The Office then it shouldn't be completely impossible here.

What this attempt DOES have going for it, unlike the previous ones, is that I now know and dig Zach Gilford (aka one of the redeeming things about Off The Map, may it rest in pieces) and also Aldis Hodge who I had no idea was in this. Though I'm assuming he doesn't stick around long, what with having a regular gig on Leverage and also looking like an utter psycho here, but still, bonus points awarded for good casting!

Sticking with for the time being, but any words of encouragement can only help. Hit me up with some ships and fave characters?

Meanwhile, a show I definitely won't be watching (until it's cancelled in about 5 minutes): Friends With Benefits. Hooboy, that was BAAAAD. I cringed on and off for most of the episodes, that was just so desperate and sad and awkward. Maybe I'm also still harboring a bit of a grudge since they recast Fran Kranz, thus robbing me of the chance to have him back on my TV, but honestly, after seeing this, I think I'm glad he's not in it. Hell, Ryan Hansen also deserves better, and I say that not thinking that Ryan Hansen is a great actor or anything - I just wouldn't wish this show even on Dick Casablancas. *Goes off to try and erase the memory of this from the harddrive of my brain*
