Ned was hilarious in this episode.

Hee yeah, it's a good thing his unfathomable stupidity is there to make up for him otherwise being the most boring dude evar. I don't think I've seen a character this haplessly stupid since ... well actually, even Homer Simpson is too *immoral* to be this stupid! I think Nerdard may be king of the stupid!

Well, every show needs a serious boring main character:y person, right? Like Ted Mosby or True Blood's Bill etc. uhm. So, yeah, that's Ned, I guess? At least his boringness is taken advantage of in the form of him being all fatherly and stuff.

Eddard is totally the king of stupid. XD
Seriously, why tell people that you know about the incest...

Hey, Ted Mosby is no Nerdard! He may be a bit less outrageous than Barney but he's got personality and is mostly smart and interesting and funny. Atleast when he's drunk. Gawd, I miss drunk!Ted...
Bill and Ned are pretty similar though, their only value is their ridiculousness.

Why tell CERSEI of all people? First when I saw that scene, I was like "dude, Ned, what are you DOING?!". But then the actors were doing such a good job that for a second, just a second mind you, I thought: "wow, they're playing some serious, high level chess here!". And then I realized, no, *Cersei* is playing Chess. Ned is playing TicTacToe. And losing. :D

I know, Ted Mosby is great, but just... he's in a comedy show! Ned is in a srs drama show. If you implanted Ted Mosby in GoT he'd probably be Ned:ish.
Am I over-thinking this?

Cersei is a chess player. Ned can barely grasp the rules of Candy Land. XD

I love how Cersei seemed a little bit amused by Ned's various "chess moves" in this episode. Like, she was smirking a lot.
I would have been smirking too, if it were me!

I think so yeah. Just because their names rhyme doesn't mean they're similar. ;)

Heh, probably because, in terms of chess playing, what Ned did was jump the tower over the other chesspieces like it was checkers, and then he ate the tower piece. :D

lol that's exactly what he did. And he got SO MUCH great advice on what to do, from various people. He should just have listened to Renly or to Littefinger, things would have worked out better (lol I loved the bit at the end of the episode where Ned were told that Renly and the Knight of Flowers had left the city "In some hurry, early this morning". lol they knew to get out in time...).
Or, hell, he should just have bent the knee when Cersei told him to! He should have recognized that he was defeated at that point. He could be packing up to return to Winterfell right this moment. Sheesh, Ned.
