SECRET PAL 8 QUESTIONAIRRE
That's right - another one! I just love me my secret pal gift exchanges ;P
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I love alpaca. Yum. Really, though, I enjoy anything that is soft and glides smoothly over my fingers...mmmmmmm.
I can't think of a fibre I've worked with and hated in general, but any yarn that squeaks would drive me insane. And yarn that scratches my hand and hurts my cuticles is unfun...
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
Well, USED to store them in a plastic bag... but thanks to my glorious pal from SP7, I have the most beautiful needle holder thing EVER! it's so prettiful :3
3. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
retaught myself in november of 2004 (learned as a kid, didn't stick with it..). I'd go with an intermediate skill level...
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
I do! Do I have the link here at work? I do not! ;P ask me again later...
5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
Vanilla, hands down. Other top picks? cinnamon, chocolate... basically, I love the smells of baking and spices and such things :)
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
Yes and then some! Huge sugar addict ;P I love sour keys and cinnamon hearts. And milk chocolate (*hate* dark chocolate). And I'm no purist - my chocolate can have nuts, fruits, mintness, caramelness, whatever. Just no coffeeness, please.
I prefer gummies over hard candies, but really if it's sugary and not flavoured like coffee or dark chocolate, I'll enjoy it!
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
I kind of spin. I have a drop spindle, haven't touched it in months, fully intend to pick it up again sometime soon and at least make it through the sampler bag of roving it came with... :P
I also like to bake.
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
all kinds. seriously. Currently, the music that plays on grey's anatomy is my favourite..mmm....artist i'm most in love with currently: Imogen Heap
(and ues to the mp3s playableness..)
9. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
Purple. to an obsessive degree.
Also a big fan of pink.
Quite enjoy red.
Not at all a fan of orange.
Try to avoid bright yellow.
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I live with my brother and his girlfriend. There should be a fourth person in the house, but we haven't found one yet.
I have 3 cats, whom I adore, and my brother has a turtle.
11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
yes, yes, yes, no.
I have an insane amount of scarves (most not hand knit, actually). Have recently decided I love hats, so I don't have many of those. Mittens just make me happy, and I have a pair in all my warm coat pockets (or i try to).
Ponchos...ehh... I'd rather a shawl or wrap. I like something to wrap up in when I'm chilly, and am not often a fan of pulling things over my head.
12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
currently, shawls I think. (okay, haven't made many...as in I've made one... but I love it. and currently, I am sick of sweaters. Mostly because I'm making my dad a sweater and it is NEVERENDING...)
13. What are you knitting right now?
This second? Blackberry from Knitty for a friend.
On the needles at home, as well, is Leo from Knitty for my dad. Need to do the finishing on a little cat. Constant WIP is a big purple blanket.
14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
I do :) I believe my most favourite gift ever was handmade..
15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
I'm starting to really prefer circulars... they are much less in the way when I knit at work or in class.
I've never tried bamboo, I prefer aluminum over plastic.
16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?
Yes to both :)
17. How did you learn to knit?
Taught myself off a website.
(first time, my mum taught me :P )
18. How old is your oldest UFO?
the Purple Blanket of Doom is probably about to push a year... but it doesn't really count :P It's what I do when I'm between projects...
I started my dad's sweater in January and it's still going...
19. What is your favorite holiday?
I don't really have one... Well, I guess "Last day of exams!" kind of counts... it's my most favourite day of the year :P
20. Is there anything that you collect?
Penguins. Penguins, penguins, and more penguins.
21. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
Books: i'd love to get my hands on the latest release from the yarn harlot...
Yarns: I've only once gotten my hands on some yarn from blue sky alapacas..and i'd love to do it again! ;P Or something Noro, just so I can see what all the fuss is about...
Needles: Nothing I can think of off hand, though as I tend to have multiple things on the go at once, I'm always happy to add to the collection! :)
Patterns: nothing specific.. I'm a big collector of things I enjoy, though (so, yes, that includes knitting patterns).
I currently have a subscription to Vogue Knitting. Considering Interweave Knits, since I picked up a copy at the bus depot a couple months ago and greatly enjoyed..
22. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?
Knitting Socks. A previous secret pal hooked me up with some patterns and yarn and needles, and any day now I'm going to try it out... but until then, it is still the technique I'm wanting to learn!
23. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
not yet :P and i don't ever measure my feet, but I wear a woman's 8 1/2 size shoe...
