It's Officially Official

The Provost called today and made the official offer. A nice twist is that they are going to pay Doc a few thousand more than they said they would. I asked my friend, P, who is a professor at Kenyon, why they would do that. She said, "Because Doc has tenure at a university with an excellent reputation in her field, which means she doesn't need a job and they really really want her to come there." Works for me.

Seriously though, her past teching experience and other creative work combined with her projects under NSF funding make her a pretty hot ticket. I'm that proud of her! It's so lovely to see her recognized as the valuable asset she is.

The rush is on, however, because she needs to be at work by August 13th. Ack! She and her folks have been making amazing progress at her house and it's showing regularly. When we go to New England for our previously scheduled vacation, we'll meet with the realtor I found and try to nail down a place to live. Cross your parts.

Meanwhile, I'm a boxing and donating fool. It's lovely. I just adore shedding possessions. I divested myself of about 75% of my Stuff when I moved here and it's a trend that's continued. Even at that, though, I've accumulated some excess Stuff here and it's delicious to pass it along. My realtors are coming next Thursday to walkthrough and make any recommendations regarding things to take care of, and then my house will be listed, too.

It feels wild. And I keep wanting to say "mildly surreal" but that's not quite it. It feels real, just real on a different plane. Floaty solid real. Melodic silent real. High flying deep real. I say "wow" a lot.

OK. Doggies need to pee.
