And the way I'm loving him now...

It's been forever since I last did a music update, so here I go:

So, I was reading my Time magazine, enjoying becoming cultured and getting my daily news fill. I stumble upon this little tidbit about Eurovision 2012 and how they didn't want it to become "a gay parade" because of this group called Jedward. I was curious what they would sound like, because their picture in Time made them look like cute little aliens.

Oh, how wrong I was. They were handsome and cute little aliens. They remind me of those Burberry models I love; those super-classy European guys who, like Korean guys, do not exist in real life. Anyway, I clicked on Waterline, a video that looked okay judging from the YouTube preview. I've been listening nonstop for one day now, and I CANNOT find an mp3 (their US release is June 26).

I find myself listening to a lot of interesting music at times (K-pop), but I am no stranger to European music. What I found most confusing about Jedward is how closely they fit in with the K-pop formula. I was astonished and amazed. The song, their looks and style - reminded me too much of K-pop. In a way, I was very happy because it's not often K-pop is so clearly channeled like this in the Western world. It's nice to hear the K-pop tradition being taken on by someone different. At the same time, Jedward isn't nauseating like the American boy bands - again, they are representative of the magic of the K-pop formula.

Anyway, despite the ignorant and insensitive comments people make about Jedward, Waterline and its album, Young Love, are worth waiting until June 26th for. Their brand of pop-techno is right up my alley. Finely crafted, yet fun, catchy, and easy to follow - plus, they're super-cute and handsome (AHHH! THE K-POP BURNS MY EYES!) Jedward - the closest thing the West has to K-pop.
