new music! oh glee
I just discovered Amy Winehouse, and I love her! I saw a clip of her single on MTV and was curious so I downloaded some stuff and I'm so glad I did. Seriously this is the most refreshing stuff I've heard in a minute. It's like a Lauryn Hill/Corinne Bailey Rae/Cake/Joss Stone/The Supremes/someone else old school i'm not properly recognizing mash up.
I also just realized Ciara's latest album knocks. This will be the next thing I bump at the gym.
I have been ODing on snacks today. I haven't gone grocery shopping since being back so I've just kinda been scrounging around the kitchen. I called out today because I completely lost my voice at the concert last night, which, by the way, was great fun. though I wish BlackThought would connect with the audience more. He performs like he's been in the game for madd long (which he has), has performed thousands of shows all over the world (which he has), and doesn't give a fuck about the Nokia Theatre in Times Square (which he very well may not). But I'm still glad I went. Lupe almost didn't perform because he was having serious sound problems and he got pissed but he came back out and performed for about an hour. The Roots went on for about 2 hours. My favorite parts were when they did a cover of Bob Dylan's Masters of War, and then their own You Got Me with acoustic guitars (I almost cried). They also did a nice medley of covers that included Roxanne by the Police, SexyBack, and Throw Some Ds. Brilliance.
No matter where I put my water mug my kitty finds it and puts his furry face in it. ARgh.
