I keep telling myself, "Self, you do know this will only end in tears, right? Bitter, bitter tears!" And then I reply, "Shut up, self, and LET ME HAVE MY MOMENT!"
I squeed when I saw the proposal, but like you, I don't trust it. I'm absolutely terrified what stupid ass thing they're going to do to them. ::chews fingernails::
1. Nightwing's presence on the cover of the OYL issue of Outsiders makes me think he'll survive, though whether he'll be the main character in his own book is strangely unsettled. (I have heard enough rumors to think that we are not going to like anything Bruce Jones does.) Babs' status seems a bit less certain, but I can't imagine Gail Simone (who is still writing BoP) won't hold onto her.
2. I think Devin Grayson is the poster child for everything that is wrong with IC, OYL and 52. Here is a writer with talent and a following, and she can't tell the story she wants to tell, and then isn't offered a job. Nothing against many of the writers taking on DC books - most of whom a re quite good - but if there's room for Ron Marz and Bruce Jones and John Byrne, there's room for Devin. While I am among the optimists about DC's future, I won't excuse the way Devin has been treated. At least they let her wrap the sotry the way she wanted to.
1. But we don't know who is *in* the Nightwing costume (so sayeth the official promos for Nightwing OYL)
2. She wasn't? That is surprising--I'd assumed she be given another comic book. She might be writing a tie-in novel for them. I hope she keeps writing comics, but maybe she's going to focus on her prose writing career now.

I will treasure this issue, though. It's like Birds of Prey #8 :D
