You know how they always say there's no place like home? It's totally true. Spending the summer in Los Angeles with my dad was nice, but it was almost... a little too normal for me. I know I'm always complaining about the Slayer gig, and saying I wish I had a normal life again, but after going back to "normal" for the summer... I'm not so sure. It would be nice to give up my stake and crossbow for awhile, but it was hard to do that when I knew what would be waiting for me back in Sunnydale. Once I got back home, I would be slaying again, patrolling again, pulling all-nighters with Willow and Xander acting as my moral support again. When I went to LA at the beginning of the summer, I was looking forward to my vacation. Didn't think I'd miss slaying at all, really. I had a quiet, normal, slay-free summer... and I hated every minute of it.
Well, except for the shopping. I loved the shopping. I got this great pair of boots that would just go great with that skirt I--
Who am I kidding? None of my clothes stay nice very long anyway. Blood and vamp dust don't wash out very well.
Dad had planned on dropping me off at home and heading back to LA, but after he helped me bring my luggage inside, Mom managed to intercept us and got Dad sidetracked. I knew they'd be talking for the better part of an hour. That's how it always goes. With both of them preoccupied, it wasn't hard for me to grab my jacket and slip out unnoticed. Mom probably wouldn't appreciate my going out right after I got home from being away all summer, but come on, does anyone really expect me to wait until school starts to see my friends again?
It was Wednesday night. Bronze night. Willow and Xander would be easy to find. I was definitely looking forward to seeing the two of them again. The summer had already been boring to begin with, and being all friendless in LA only made it worse. I love my buds. I need my buds. Catching up over cappucino was sounding better and better.
Leaving my parents and their boring adult conversation behind, I started for the Bronze on foot.
((Open to Willow, Xander, and any other Bronzers.))
