OMG!!!
I just got an e-mail from someone that I had heard nothing from in quite a while. Someone dwelling in the UK, although I couldn't remember where for sure. (metalhips should know exactly who that is having had to put up with me at work today)
He still exists, he's still alive and he answered my e-mail (which I didn't expect, not having had a response to the last couple).
