(no subject)
I had one of those "small world" moments yesterday evening. Duncan and I were in Riccarton Mall with Mum and Dad. I happened to see a woman I know by the name of Erna. We started talking about Brownie stuff as we tend to do. Then two other people came up. One of them looked at Erna and I and then said to me "Why are you talking to my mum?" It was Ashes. So, Erna and I are both Brownie Leaders, Ashes and I are both KAOS. So there we go.
When I told Mum later she said that she would have to have sympathy conversations with Erna regarding having strange children. Thhhbbt.
Duncan is reading LOTR at the moment. I don't know whether he'll get through the whole thing, although he's most of the way through FotR at the moment. However, I know that I first tried to read it at his age and gave up part way through TTT. I think I was 10 or 11 before I read the whole thing. Still we'll see how he goes.
Currently the book has two bookmarks in it. One marking his place, and the other marking the place where the black speech version of the verse on the ring was given. He is attempting to memorise it. Are we surprised? Aaahh no, not really.
