Chuck, halfamoon
+Still pimping: halfamoon, a multifandom, multifanwork event celebrating female characters in fandom, that runs Feb 1-Feb 14. I cruised through the prompts at the Impromptuthon to see what I might try to write, and saw a bunch of things that made me go Eeeee. But in my personal opinion, there weren't enough prompts for the characters from Chuck. *koff* Wow, am I subtle or what?
+It's good to see how they're letting Chuck grow, and that moment when Chuck is looking out the plane window at the Eiffel Tower was poignant and kind of speaks to the balancing act they're doing with Chuck. Even though he's leading this exciting spy life, he still hasn't been able to do the things he wants to do. He had that training period in what, Prague? I can't remember. But the missions are mostly in Burbank, CA, where he's lived forever. And then there's Zachary Levi, who keeps being brilliant, and even if Chuck can flash and suddenly knows fencing (Heeee! Fencing!) Chuck takes down the bad guy not because he knows fencing, but because he has the wits to cut the webbing on the luggage holder and then Zachary does this goofy little shrug. Even with the changes, the show hasn't for a second lost sight of who this guy is. ♥
Nicely done how this was Chuck's first "solo" mission yet we got plenty of time with the ensemble. I'd prepared myself for no Sarah and no Casey in this ep but that's not what this was.
I liked the new girl fine, and I like that she works in IT, that's not typically what a character in that type of role usually does. Smallville fans are probably going into this with a lot of baggage about the actress I don't have. *shrug*
There was some great Sarah stuff in this episode, watching her have to stand by while Chuck struggles with his mission (and she flew a 747. Sort of? WOO HOO). Shaw is also interesting. And the ring in the envelope. Spies don't fall in love for a reason.
Okay, Casey brainwashing Lester, that IS JUST PLAIN CREEPY. Ick.
Sarah wearing a t-shirt that says FRAK YOU on it in the preview cracks me up.
This show is so much fun. \o/
