I've been following along at farscaperewatch, although I seem to always be a few episodes behind or a few episodes ahead. Right now I've gotten ahead of the comm which means I just watched S1 A Bug's Life and have just started Nerve and having a full on FARSCAPE GLEE ATTACK. :D :D :D ( Read more... )

Farscape and me go waaay back--this is literally a rewatch for me. Y'know, I remembered it was awesome, I knew this. And yet still, I'm delighted at how it's pulling me back in so strongly.

Go to farscapeicons.

regala_electra got me through the entire Farscape series this year and I simply ADORED it! I laughed, I screamed, I cried like a baby at the end.

Um, I did a Farscape picspam to John Quixote here. Someday I will do my IDK My BFF D'Argo picspam.

Yup, I remember that. A couple of cliffhangers where I actually did scream at the TV. I can't wait to see all that again. *rubs hands together*

Haha, oh Farscape. It's like they looked at every tv show and all of fandom and said, "Crack? You call that crack? WE'LL GIVE YOU CRACK." :D

D'Argo is the best BFF ever, and I kind of love how he is even though he tries to kill Crichton a lot.

I love John for his fondness for his dogs. I love him for the fact that, in EVERY scene with Aeryn, he sits STILL and lets HER be the one to move toward him (look at the kiss at the end of "The Flax," at the end of "Look at the Princess," in EVERY instance. He cedes control and choice to HER, every time...and that endeared me to him more than anything else.

That's such a good point about John. I think it's not just with Aeryn, I mean with so many characters, in his friendships, he doesn't seem out to prove he's in charge. He has a high opinion of his own smarts, he's not passive by any means, he's strong physically even though he kind of sucks at fighting for a lot of the first season--his development into a harder-edged, more ruthless sort of person--but one that never lets go of that core gentleness--fascinates me.

It's why PK John is so much fun. He doesn't quite know how to be a nasty alpha (yet).

I love that Aeryn is the warrior and John...isn't...and no big deal is made out of Aeryn protecting John, and John will frequently accept it when she tells him to keep his head down while she does all the heavy shooting.

I just joined. We are, since yesterday, up to "The Flax" and...GLEE.

You know what's unfortunate to me about S1 FS? Aeryn's GORGEOUS AMAZING hair? It's down most of the time. GODS I love it.

...But as someone who's just come from the PK, it makes more sense that seh would have ARRIVED keeping her hair TIGHTLY up and out of her way (like she did S3).

The logic is flawed...she should have had it up S1...at least sometimes. Let it come down symbolically here and there. It's interesting that when she's most emotionally open, her hair is most tightly bound.

Then there is the S4 wig that still makes me really upset.

Yes, you would think. It kind of goes the opposite way, doesn't it? She starts wearing it up in a ponytail late in S1, and then pulls it back a lot later IIRC. The hair is a way to hide emotionally.

Oh, the S4 wig. *shudders* Let us not speak of the S4 wig!

I love when she stops floofing her chair back straight with the curlers and mousse and AquaNet Special PK Product and just let it part and fall straight down. SO much more attractive.

I was truly, entirely upset by S4's hair. I wanted SO much to stare at the gorgeousness and that awful THING...it was wrong adn upsetting and I was really bothered and I'm not over it but it can't be fixed. ::sad::

GODS, I have it bad for Aeryn. We're up to "Jeremiah Crichton" and her hair is finally parted...and I'm to the point of waving and cooing, "Hi, pretty lady" every time she comes on screen.

She's gorgeous.

Chi is actually my favorite female character (I'm sending a pattern, there...I always like the thieves! *g*) but Aeryn is FANTASTIC and so layered, and really one of the best female characters I've ever seen in a TV series. Scully's up there too, and maybe Amanda King. Aeryn was just...unusually layered.

It sat dormant with me for a while--I never forgot it, but I had a couple of years where I didn't go back and look at it much.

Apparently, my Farscape squee was in stasis, just waiting to be re-unleashed. Man, I loved that show so very much when it was on and looking at it now it still pwns me. And of course noticing things I didn't the first couple times around (I've seen the whole run of the series at least 3 times).

YES!

I love them for making sure the story got told...and Rockne O'Bannon has done that with two cancelled shows now: FS and Alien Nation. I respect him a lot for that.
