Dick Grayson is getting his own TV series.

It'll either work, or it'll suck. It's all pretty much a moot point. Dick Grayson is getting his own TV series and I have to watch. For my sake, everyone think positive thoughts that it'll be awesome? I'm rather fond of the character.

Ooh, I love Dick Grayson. Not as much as I love Tim Drake, but then I love Tim Drake very unreasonably. And I notice that it's the Robin III costume in the picture on that article.

Here's hoping it doesn't suck. ::fingers crossed::

Dick Grayson is pretty much the bright center of the DC Universe for me, and I've pretty much had a crush since I was a wee thing of 10 and watched Burt Ward in reruns. Tim Drake is an awesome character, but Dick Grayson is better even than Batman. A lot of my fannish love formed during Chuck Dixon's run on Nightwing, and storylines like "Prodigal."

So, um. They better not screw this up. I've had as much disappointment from officially sanctioned DC stories that I can take.

Oh dear. Oh dear. I'm very afraid of what they're going to do. Like you, I'll have to watch, though, 'cause it's Dick!

It's going to most likely be the suck, and here I am, can't run, can't hide, because the lad is getting his own TV series all about him and I will have to SUFFER THROUGH IT.

I mean, I have this much of a glimmer of hope since two of Supernatural's exec producers will be on the staff, and we all know how I feel about Supernatural. Other than that...SUFFERING.

Ooooooooh. This could be good, or very bad, or both at the same time.

Regardless, I'm geeked. :D

(Also, "DJ" ah, nicknames don't age well, ne?)

And yet if his name isn't Dick where do you get DJ?

IIRC, it is Richard John Grayson, technically right? I'm sure they can finagle it somehow. It'd probably be easier just to call him Rick though.

I also fear it making the transition out of the television medium but that's getting a head of things. :3

Oh yeah, that's what I mean. The "J" is presumably from John, but Dick is short for Richard, so shouldn't it be RJ? /is obsessive about this minor detail that probably doesn't matter at all.

Heh. You're so much more positive than I am. Of course I have to watch, but I'm freaking out about it. DJ?

I don't freak out about TV shows. It's just better that way.

That doesn't mean I'm not wincing and gleeful all at the same time. Because what if it's awesome? I mean, what if??

Should "Smallville" return next year,

No, no, it really should not. It should have been allowed to die in peace years ago. Oh, you mean that wasn't a question?

I hope it will be awesome; They have good source material to work with anyway.

Source material they're going to toss out the window and completely rework. Which I am not, intrinsically, against if the spirit of the character is there. There could be cool foreshadowing stuff and oblique references to Bruce Wayne. And I kind of want there to be a cute redhead named Barbara in DJ's chemistry class only he can't work up the gumption to talk to her just yet.

Mostly I think it's going to be tacky. But I am not without hope!

Hee! I'm totally picturing Bruce Wayne giving a presentation on the importance of community service to a bunch of bored kids in the honor society. Smarty teenage Babs (complete with subtle suggestion of double life) would totally be worth the price of admission!

I only discovered my deep & abiding love for the Birds of Prey after the TV series was dead & buried & I've been too afraid to go back & watch it now that I have expectations.
