Oh. Very poignant, thank you.

Yes. That would really be (a kind of) hell. Of course, Bela was probably in a living version of hell while alive. I'm not sure that Abby box stayed shut...

And... what is time, exactly? Does hell have a chronology

And of course Bela's backstory is a cliché, but then clichés are clichés for a reason... But I think we've discussed similar things before. :-)

Personal hells is an interesting concept to me. Also, I can recommend Dorothy Gilman's Mrs Pollifax books if you like mysteries. :-)

Bela's hell is herself. Yeah, the backstory is cliche, but Bela herself I find to be so interesting and I did feel sorry for her. In that, I think the show really succeeded because she did cross a line and yes, tried to kill Sam and Dean at the end and yet, they kept that shred of sympathy for her. I like that she wasn't insane, she wasn't a supernatural being, she wasn't an outright villain, and she wasn't good either. Fun to play with.

I'm pleased you liked this!

I like this a lot. Hell gives you too much of what you think you lack of? Yeah. The fic aptly fits the quote, and I definitely see this happening for Bela, who sometimes seems to me like a person that requires anything but stillness at times. Thanks for sharing the read. I like to think that her story didn't end at all.

Yep. All the things she believes about herself, crowding in. Some of it's truth, and some of it is her being harder on herself than hell or anything else ever could be.

Thank you! This ficlet kind of grabbed me and I had to write it out.

I very much like if she hadn't shut Abby away in a box, the implication that her reinvention of herself is as destructive an act as her others.

Nicely put. I was thinking that! She put Abby away to reinvent herself into someone cooler and tougher but she might have given up what could have saved her. Shut her feelings off too far, lived too much as a construct? (See, and this is one of the many, many ways she's like a darker mirror of Dean, to me).

I'm glad you liked this, hon!

She both rationalizes what she did and is far too hard on herself for choosing to make the deal. But she could have made better decisions later, and didn't, and now she's alone with nothing to do but think about all of it. Thanks, I'm glad you liked how this filled in what the show couldn't give us.
