Meme

That fanfic meme that's going around.

Ten ways you can tell you're reading a story by dotfic:

10. Below-decks background characters get either a) a moment of staring down into their coffee and deciding to switch to decaf after seeing the latest weirdness or b) narrate the story. Call is Rosencrantz and Guildenstern syndrome. This related to #2, below.

9. There's food. The food will usually be eaten while two characters, most usually male, try to work through their angst. Different foods are codes for different things. For example, pancakes means everything will be fine. Unhappy characters rarely get to eat pancakes.

8. There is more UST than actual romance.

7. Someone has a nightmare.

6. There is bickering among teammates/family/clan.

5. Characters are trapped somewhere together for a length of time. This always results in said characters working through their differences or relationship, and some sort of danger/peril.

4. My favorite character gets a cameo or shout-out even if the story doesn't warrant it.

3. No one can verbalize to anyone else how they really feel, even though their actions are loudly telegraphing their feelings.

2. Major canon characters play out missing scenes that took place during or after an episode.

1. Sooner or later, someone will use a line from a movie.
