T-Day and Trains

Went to San Antonio via the train for Thanksgiving. Good times were had.

There were complications with the train. The Heartland Flyer from Norman to Ft. Worth worked liked a charm. However, the Texas Eagle, which we were supposed to board at 2:30pm was delayed due to a freight train accident. We got a text message saying the train wouldn't come in until 7:30pm. The guys at the ticket office said that 7:30 would be incredibly optimistic.

So we debated about waiting for the train, or taking the bus (sold out!), so we, ended up renting a car. We drove the rest of the way to San Antonio.

I don't believe in premonitions or anything, but I had a feeling we were due for something... noisy passengers, long layovers, whatever. Called it! But what happens if I have a similar feeling about a plane trip?

Anyway, got to San Antonio. Had a fun, saw the side of the family we like. Ate a ton of food. Hit the Mexican market.

Took the train(s) back with no issues. This was our second trip to do our smoked-salmon brunch (with Bloody Marys this time)- extravagant! The long layover at Ft. Worth was spent snacking at a pub and having a couple of beers. I read a ton of stuff for HFQ that day, and typed up some of my own notes, and read some. And I mean all day! I was pretty pooped when we finally got back to Norman.

AND, just as we came into Norman proper it got suddenly foggy, which was totally cool.

My cousins are big gamers, board games and video games (they seem to live a second life in this minecraft game). They agitate that we should get together more often for game nights. I'm tempted to up the ante and say we could play a D&D or Gamma World campaign!
