After Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union, Winston Churchill announced to the public his support of the Soviets. He said the British would help the Soviets any way they could, and that he was honored to support the people of the Soviet Union. He immediately caught criticism, because he hated communism and it was clear that prior to this,the British were not exactly on the most friendly terms with Stalin.

In response, Churchill said "If Hitler should invade Hell, I shall at least give the devil a good word in the House of Commons"

ah, World War II, what an interesting topic to study, and Churchill, what an interesting guy...
