I always wondered what the unicorns wanted with the maidens... then I read a short story about a maiden who met a unicorn... several months later she gave birth to a small four-hooved, horned creature who ran off into the woods and left her. I am content to not attract unicorns.
Plus, in the Ebeneezum trilogy and the Wanderings of Wuntvor, Wuntvor is constantly being stalked by the unicorn who repeatedly asks to rest his head in Wuntvor's lap. Not only is this really annoying to Wuntvor who can't lose the darn creature, but he's outed to everyone as a virgin.
I didn't end up with a very positive impression of unicorns. They can be pretty though, and I did have Lisa Frank stickers.
which series is this? i only read misty's valdemar books probably because the cover blurbs from other titles never grabbed me but i could be persuaded to check out some unicorn mary sue action!
Series starts with The Fairy Godmother. Starts out with one hilariously annoying Uni. In.... Ugh. Andromeda's book, I forget what it's called, (second book in the series) you get four hilariously annoying unicorns. I haven't read the Little Mermaid one yet, and the Snow Queen's is sorely lacking in the unicorn department, but a good read in my opinion.
And the unicorns aren't Mary Sues, per se. They are gorgeous and powerful creatures, but dumb as door nails. The main character has a good theory on that whole thing that I agree with (if you're beautiful and strong as a magic creature, you are not going to be smart).
They're talking about a boat. I struggle to understand the snark. But then I agree with the quote "there's nothing so fun as simply messing about in boats" and miss not living closer to the coast or a river big enough to take anything bigger than a canoe.

The problem with unicorns is they have been hunted almost to extinction.
