Dear clueless women at the dog exercise area (where it's accepted that it's only one dog at a time, and nobody is ever there):

Maybe you've never been to this place before, and that's why you let your two obese Schipperkes in the gate... I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt until you started yelling at one of them to come back as he wandered over to Humphrey (who was now leashed up); THEN you tell me "He has some fear aggression with larger dogs!" Are you serious? You would put your dog in danger.... why? Did you not see the large dog?

Thankfully her dog just gave us the stink-eye and wandered away; we left.

Angrily yours,
Me

Yikes! At least most of the folks at the dog park have used good manners and discussed any potential issues with me BEFORE turning dogs loose together.

WTF! Lady's got a lot to learn (and someone please take that remote away from her until she's got a better grasp of learning theory and the difference between suppressing behavior and desensitization.)

"out of nowhere" bite in 3... 2... 1...

He seemed very very human friendly, but at the rate she was going, he'll probably be ruined on people before long too. I tried to gently show her how we could bring the dogs closer without the growling, but she was so not interested. This is probably a local trainer who has set her up like this, and why there aren't trainers around here that I will work with. Sheeesh.

I sort of tried to see if she'd let the dogs work on it together, and asked her to let her dog warn Krissie, since Krissie is a puppy and will back down. I brought up clicker training mine to work on stuff, and how my two that don't get along are slowly doing better that way, but she was all "poopoo"ing it and her "trainer said this is the only way" so I let it be. Sometimes we just can't fix ignorance.

Oh don't I know it! The trainers around here I've met use prong collars and shock collars and so on. One insisted that my dog wouldn't pass their class unless I used a prong collar, but I insisted she couldn't have a collar at all, and trained successfully with just her harness on. She passed with flying colors. HAH! I didn't keep up on the Heel and such, but she still sits and downs with just a flick of my finger, and I can generally recall her even off of chasing rabbits, so I think I did okay.

Maybe I should look into some coursework and get certified as a trainer and see if I can't bring more positive training to my area.
