I DO NOT understand those stupid strollers. Perhaps if the dog is really old or has limited mobility, it would be OK to take it in one of those, but most people who use them are just denying their dogs exercise (and then wondering why the little dogs are such hyper, aggressive brats).

And I also cannot see what kind of "service" a tiny dog can do from within a doggie stroller.

I bought one for my rabbit. It's nice for shopping, going to the park, & going to the vet. After we're out, I take her to a vegan restaurant (it's kinda like healthy fast food) and buy her a nice salad.

That is awesome! I bet your bunny loves the attention, and the eating out.

Wow, way to be judgmental re: the strollers.

Since I do not have a car and must take BART/public transportation AND am disabled, I must contain Henry somehow, so he goes in his stroller when it's time to go to the vet/shop/etc.--I cannot carry a crate. And my little dog isn't any more "aggressive" than the dog in your icon (dare we get into THAT wankery).

What kind do you have?

I actually have two, because one was a gift from a friend years ago for the cat (because the cat needed to get to the vet too and he is a HUGE bastard...even at six months old he made his crate soooooo heavy that even my able-bodied gf could not carry it far without huffing and puffing). The first "gift' one is an Outward Hound blue thing that's smaller and where the pet rides closer to the ground and the other one is a larger Jeep brand one. Both of which the cats hate (LOL, but they hate crates, period) and both of which my dog Henry adores. ^__~ Henry's tail will start wagging when I bring either of them out and he will try to jump in before I'm even ready to get him in there. XD ( ... )

Wait, were you asking what kind of dog do I have? Or what kind of stroller? >_>? LOL...well I already said what kind of stroller(s), so the dog that likes to ride in the strollers is a little mutt (see icon). We think he's some kind of wire haired dachshund mix.

Well I was wondering about the stroller :D. He's adorable.

Bwaaaa, I guess I'm just the stroller guy of LJ. Though you know lately we haven't taken either of the strollers out much because we haven't gone anywhere...but Henry does need to go to the vet next month. ;)

They did say "Perhaps if the dog is really old or has limited mobility, it would be OK to take it in one of those" - I'm sure they would make an exception when the person has limited mobility as well, particularly on public transit.

Either way, I think it's pretty clear they're talking about people who have absolutely no need for one, and just use it because it's cute/etc, and not talking about your case. It sounds like the OP falls into that category.

I really don't have a problem with the stroller itself, the pup is actually very well-behaved and really about the cutest thing I've seen. In fact I suggested a doggy stroller to my mother-in-law several years ago when she was carrying the dog everywhere. I was told that there is no way she would ever put her dog in a "cage" and she stormed off, the next year she showed up with one, raving about how great it was, eh, this is how it goes every year.

BTW I think the rabbit idea is fabulous, makes me miss my bun that much more.
