Bloolark, I need your advice on this one...

So today, I went home for mother's day. My stepsister and her husband are out of town, so my mom is pet-sitting. They have a chocolate lab (lives outside in a cage...ugh. it gets WAY worse), a kitty (who is chunky, but otherwise very well cared for), two large aquariums of fishies (something they actually do RIGHT - the aquariums are in great shape), and a female blue and gold macaw named Isabelle. I knew getting Isabelle was a bad idea. See, they got her a couple years ago. Things went well at first - nice big cage with lots of rope perches, lots of time out of the cage and TONS of attention. Then, last thanksgiving, a guy at a pet store told them that the bird should be working on their schedule, not the other way around. Because obviously, raising a macaw is just like raisins a dog. Who knew??

Fast forward to a month ago. Step-sis gets married to boyfriend. Says she doesn't want the parrot around anymore because it's mean and bitey (wonder why..?) and squawks all the time. New hubby says he can't bear to get rid of her. Also, he beleives that the problem my step-sis has with Isabelle is because she's not firm enough with the bird. Right. So they decide the bird stays. When I went home, the bird was living OUTSIDE!!! IN THE 60 DEGREE WEATHER IN THE RAIN!! AND IT THUNDERSTORMED LAST NIGHT!! Isabelle was visibly shivering. She's been living outside in her cage for 2 or 3 days. It was very warm a few days ago, 75 - 80 degrees and dry. But now it's not. And I suspect that even 75-80 isn't enough, as it's certainly not tropical weather.

I'm hoping they'll give the bird up to me. And then I will send it to a parrot rescue. If not, I have no problems calling animal control and anonymously reporting a macaw living outside in the cold on someone's back porch. My mom is very mad that I'd do this. Somehow, I just don't care.
