That makes me wonder what they would have done if there were complications with the birth or if any of the puppies got sick. It also makes me wonder how they had the money to get them vaccinated and registered.
Read the poster's journal! Her mom is buying her a Weimaraner puppy from what looks like a puppy mill in Missouri (she links the website that shows photographs of all the adult dogs in depressing looking Kennels outside). They get all their dogs from breeders in Missouri she says, including their breeding Dachshunds. Then she says something about moving and "gee I hope I can take her [the puppy] with me. If not I'll be sad!"
Did you see her journal? Looks like she made it public again. I was nosy enough to look at it thinking I'd find details about her mom's dog breeding program. She has one pup from her mom's litter which she doesn't want to keep (because she says it is stupid and hard to potty train)- but hasn't told her mom that yet. Then she is getting a Weim. puppy as a wedding present which she doesn't know if she will be able to take with her when she moves away with her fiance. She treats dogs as disposable.
I would be hard put to find TRDs in a shelter. But, I wouldn't buy them from a shitty breeder, either, just because I couldn't find one in a shelter. I'd rather go without than A.] support a pupper miller or BYBer, B.] buy a badly bred pup that is likely to have a lot of health problems at some point in life.
"A GOOD breeder: *has people waiting to get puppies. *can have waiting lists for up to a year. *doesn't pump out puppies that they can't home. *differentiates between the show-potential and pet-quality animals in the litter. *charges ACTUAL shipping costs, not a flat-rate they may profit from. *explains what "papers" the puppies come with. *tries to breed to the STANDARD, which in the case of Mini Dachshunds, means an ideal weight of 10 pounds."

Also, in her journal she talks about them getting a new dog from a breeder. If they are so hard up what are they doing getting a new dog?
