I find this hilarious because when I was growing up we owned a German Shepherd and the exact same things were said about them. And yet, she owns one of the killing machines.

German Shepherds, Dobermans. Shar Pei. It's the same for a number of breeds. It happens to be the pit bull now, but these kids are too young and stupid to remember or comprehend the realities of dog breeds, popularity and the media.

I distinctly remember when the Doberman was the OMG KILLER DOG... OTHER DOGS bite, yeah, but DOBERMANS KILL. The same for the Shepherd. TEH EVIL SHEPHERDS ARE TEH VICIOUS KILLERS.

Where I was it was Chows. Child eating demons, the whole lot of them - nobody owns them without wanting a killer agressive dog. :P

I still remember my grandmother telling me after I pointed out a beautiful Chow that "Chows are known for turning on their owners. They aren't safe." And she owned a miniature Poodle that had a history of biting children, like me. e.e

In my family the most evil dog EVAR is the GSD. Because my cousin was attacked by her best friend's male GSD. It snapped like THAT and mauled her. Then it broke free and ran amuck, refusing to be caught, and acting wild thereafter. (This is how it is described. And then they go "AND WHAT IF IT HAD BEEN A CHILD! OMG THE CHILDREN! THE CHILDREN!") When it was finally caught it was immediately euthanized. My family won't trust GSDs because they knew this one and knew it was raised well but it turned on everyone anyway. "Once they taste blood..." e.e

I can't help but wonder if the dog had a health problem for its behavior to suddenly change so drastically.
