Haha, well, then you're prepared for the handshaking.
No, I honestly don't think I talked about anything weighty at the overnight (by my own choice - it was my second time at U of C & I wanted to find out about the non weighty side this time around). My host was not your typical U of C student so she gave me advice on how to avoid a hangover, which frats had shady guys, etc. Mainly students were giving me advice on various things - crime, weirdos, rich people, whatever. And there were plenty of sports fans, especially baseball (Go Cubs! - I'll be on the wrong side of town). I think, like everything else at Chicago, it's all what you want it to be - you can find people who just want to be focused on academics all the time (and it seems like those are the people that request singles, so even if you want a single, go to a dorm w/ doubles or request a double), but there are plenty of people who talk about non weighty things. My lunch discussion with my host and two third years went from talking about hallucinogens to the lifestyle of nomadic Turks vs. the lifestyle of Appalachia.
Sounds good. I already applied for a double (Hitchcock or Palevsky). What are you looking at if you decide to come? I'm definelty not going to be one of those pent up in a corner studyers, so hopefully I'll get a feel for the balance next week. Not like it will make any difference though, the only other place I got in was Georgia (and that's definetly not for me.) Thanks for the info and I'll keep reading. See you next fall.
