y hallo ther lj.
haven't posted since christmas. such is life.
I am officially tattooed!!! It's a silhouette of a little kitty filled with with black that graduates to a vibrant purple, on my upper thigh.
I love it so much. It also goes with all of my clothes.
Some observations:
1- The pain is painful! But completely bearable- although not something I feel like going through too often. And it basically felt like a vibrating needle being dragged across the skin. I wonder why... (not like a rubber band snapping against you or someone scratching you! wtf!)
2- linework does not hurt the most- shading does! Was told many times that the pain is more "evenly distributed" with more needles- but more needles mean more needles! The few times I did wince was when color was being filled in and the needles had to go over the same areas over and over. Granted the tattoo was not nearly big enough to give time to numb to the pain.
But seriously, the single-needle was way less painful than I expected- my favorite part was watching the tattoo take shape and following the design being traced.
3- so far, tattoo healing > piercing healing. Have to clean it far less and it hurts far less too. It's already covered with a nice smooth scab, the color is still very vibrant. At this rate it might be completely healed in two weeks :D
4- I bled cat-shaped on the gauze
5- Another thing I was told that is true: you will wish you got it bigger, or that you got MORE. The size is perfect- but I do want to fill in a background- the kitty looks kind of lonely compared to my entire thigh. Maybe something totally abstract, like some art nouveau-inspired linework.
No pictures! I don't feel like having it on the internet (since i drew it myself- and plan to build a design around it) and pics wouldn't do it justice anyway. Just visit and get me to drop my pants :D
