I finally gave in and took a sleeping pill last night (well, one-third of a pill, which is 50mg and still enough to make me never wake up

Meh, I don't know that there's anything they can do, beyond telling me to get a medical withdrawal -- which I can't, because I need the credits to transfer, and I am absolutely going to Portland in March. Most of my profs are very understanding, but at a certain point, there's nothing they can do

When I was having trouble sleeping I asked my Mum if she had any sleeping pills. She gave me something which didn't work at all. But that was probably because it was herbal something pill. The point of this ramble was- are there sleeping pills with less strength that let you wake up?
There's surgery for sinus infection problems? Surgery is scary. Hospitals are scary. I've had three stitches in my knee and that's it. No breaks.
You have the right to be cranky when you're sick. Hope you start feeling better.
There are other things to try, but so far my doctor has been an idiot about it. I'm seeing him sometime this month, so I'm going to ask him about other options.
According to my dentist (and confirmed by an oral surgeon), based on the X-rays of my wisdom teeth, I have a cyst in my sinus, which is causing chronic sinus infections. And they said that surgery might be the way to go. Bleh. Yeah, it's all very scary.
surgery freaks me out too so dont feel bad. At least u got ur wisdom teeth out..i never had mine out yet and im dreading the day they have to come out ;-/ I hate surgery, and being put to sleep, and anything thats gonna hurt afterward..im such a wuss!
Migraines, insomnia, and a sinus infection? Christ, that combination keeps me in bed all day. So I'm impressed by your ability to function at all. I'm curious, though, about what you're taking for sleep. When you say that a third of a pill is 50 mg., it makes me guess that you're on trazadone (Deseryl), a medication that I've had trouble with in the past, as have most people I know who've taken it. It causes a hangover type feeling the next day for a lot of people, so if in fact that's what you're taking, you maight want to consider a different medication. Right now, I'm taking Seroquel for sleep, with no real adverse effects. It's an anti-psychotic, but it's also an excellent sedative, with the benefit of keeping anxiety under control. Anyway, it makes me sleep all night, with no middle of the night waking up, and the lingering drowsiness in the morning is not too bad, and only lasts about half an hour.
I don't know if any of that is useful to you, but anyway, good luck; I hope you feel better soon.
Yeah, I'm taking trazadone, which has worked well for me in the past, but hasn't been so great this time. It makes me sleep for 12 or 13 hours straight, not waking up for anything, and I have been getting that hangover feeling, so I just want to stay in bed even longer.
My psych is really a moron, and I hate him, but there's nothing I can do about it. This is the only place around that takes my insurance, and I'm not even sure if they let you switch doctors -- but if they do, there's at least a three or four month wait for new patients. I'm going to talk to him about it, though, when I next see him, and just hope he fucking listens to me for once. And, yes, very useful. Thanks a lot.
