The lost path (Another side of the story Part 1) [MinKey] *SHINee*

Jul 23, 2012 11:19

Finally!! Sorry for the delay xP Again I wrote too much and I miss my inspiration somewhere when I see Taemin dancing and (insert more lame excuses here) but the point is that I did it. This can be considered as a side-story/epilogue of the original "The lost path", I splitted the chapter in two because it's really long.

Oh, and I have nothing against Jonghyun, he just happen to be my less favorite member of SHINee and I needed a plot device so I used him. The SNSD members appear just because one happen to be "Minho's type" and I like the name of the other girl :P

Anyways, I hope you like it :3 If you do and you want to read this stuff again you can find it here or if you want other stories you can go here.

( Chapter 5) (Epilogue 1) ( Epilogue 2)

“I know I’m asking too much” Taemin said, bowing slightly. I saw my father smiled as he got up from the couch.

“Of course not” he said, patting Taemin’s head gently “You are part of this family, there will be no problem with this”

Taemin looked at him, relieved.

“Thank you Mr. Choi” he said smiling. Dad appeared slightly embarrassed.

“You know you can call me appa, right?” he said. Taemin smiled faded a little.

“Sorry, I can’t” he whispered. Dad sighed and smiled at him.

“It’s okay. You probably should start packing, I’ll check the bus schedules” Dad said.

“Can I go?” I asked out of the blue. Both of them turned to see me, obviously they hadn’t notice my presence.

“Well, I don’t know if…”

“Last time Taemin travelled alone, he almost dies” I interrupted what my father was trying to say “I just want to make sure he is going to be okay”

My father seemed to consider what I was saying.

“Hyung this isn’t necessary” Taemin protested “I will be fine, Jinki hyung and Key will be with me”

“But no one can guarantee that you'll be well on the way” I said “Look, I just want go with you to check you’re fine, I will not interrupt your date with Jinki”

Taemin blushed and looked at me angry as my father started laughing.

“Taemin-ah, I really can’t see why Minho can’t go with you” he said “Also I would feel better if you are not alone there”

Taemin sighed, defeated, and nodded slightly. My father smiled and got into his office to check the bus schedule.

“You must promise you won’t interfere with my date” Taemin said, approaching me. I rolled my eyes.

“You don’t trust me?” I asked.

“You said the same thing when I dated that girl, remember?” Taemin folded his arms “The one you spilled ice cream on because she ‘was a slut’?”

“Okay, okay, but it was just once”

“Oh, and that boy at the beach” Taemin frowned “The one who worked on the hotel store and that you almost kill because he stared at me…”

“He was staring you ass Taemin” I replied “He deserved it”

Taemin sighed.

“I’m just saying that you must promise you won’t overreact” he almost pleaded “You have to remember that Jinki is my boyfriend so it’s obvious he want to be close to me”

“I’ll try” I sighed “But if he gets too close…”

“Hyung, please”

I smiled.

“I’ll behave” I said caressing his head “I promise”

Taemin smiled and started walking towards his bedroom.

“Minho…” he stopped halfway “Are you sure you just want to watch me?”

I blinked, confused.

“Yes, why?”

“Oh, it’s just that I thought that you might want to see Key hyung” Taemin smirked. “You seemed to be getting along pretty well”

“Get out!” I said while throwing him a cushion. Taemin's laugh could be heard even when the door of his room was closed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

“Taemin” Jinki said approaching to us (to Taemin) as soon as we got off of the bus. I had to remember myself that I had promised not to interfere as they got into a tight embrace.

“But goddammit, look where his hand is going” I thought while Jinki put his hand on Taemin’s hip. We still were on the bus station, surrounded by dozens of people that were staring at them for lord’s sake…  I couldn’t help but sigh, there was nothing I could do, had promised it to Taemin.

“Hi!” I greeted Jinki, trying my best to sound friendly although I wanted to punch him. Jinki immediately released Taemin, appearing slightly frightened.

“Hello” he said smiling “It’s been a while”

“Yes” I said, ignoring Taemin’s frown “I hope there is no problem with me staying with you”

“Of course not” Key said coming out from nowhere “At least I won’t have to go through this by myself. You must stop embarrassing me in public”

Jinki laughed at Key’s annoyed expression and said something that I couldn’t listen because I was too busy looking at the flawless Key in front of me.  His tight dark jeans, his blue shirt and his sunglasses made me feel like I was in front of a rock star.

“Did he always been this stunning?” I asked myself, totally startled, barely noticing glance exchange between Jinki and Taemin. Key’s cheeks got covered by blush when he noticed my gaze, yet he didn’t say anything.

For the past two months I’ve had Key’s image burned in the back of my mind and every time we talked by the phone I couldn’t help but remember him standing in my front door when they brought Taemin home. But Key was even more alluring than what I remembered.

“Minho hyung, are you alright?” Taemin asked smirking, taking me out of my thoughts. I blinked again, noticing the now sly expression on Key’s face.

“Yeah, sure” I said, trying hard not to sigh. Taemin chuckled.

“Don’t worry Taemin-ah” Key said walking towards me “I have that effect in certain kind of people”

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes as the three of them started laughing. My mood didn’t improve when Taemin smiled and took Jinki’s hand.

“I guess we should go now” he said as they started walking towards the exit. Quickly I started walking behind them but Key’s hand prevented me to do it. I looked at him, confused.

“Taemin said you probably would do that” he whispered at my ear “Don’t worry, we will have some fun together… Trust me”

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I had absolutely no problem with Jinki: he was nice, somewhat funny and I liked his hair, but probably the most important thing was that Jinki had saved Taemin’s life. Yet I barely could bear that they were touching each other that much.

During our trip to Jinki and Key’s house, Taemin had cuddled next to Jinki after he forced me to go in the front seat with Key. I spent half an hour looking them through the mirror, trying so hard to not turn and punch Jinki in the face. By the time we arrived to the house and they got off of the car, Jinki’s arm got gridded to Taemin’s waist as they smiled to each other, totally oblivious of my presence.

Right now they were at kitchen table, talking and eating. It was a situation I could handle, they were (barely) far enough from each other and Jinki seemed to be more focused on his meal than with him.

The problem came when Taemin took a cookie and put it in Jinki’s mouth, trying to bring his attention back to him. I had to watch how his (really naïve) technique worked and Jinki took gently his hand before leaning towards him.

I was about to stood and stop them when I felt Key’s hand on my shoulder.

“Taemin will kill you if you do it” he said, his eyes never leaving the screen of the TV.

“I won’t…”

“You were going to” Key turned to see me “You promised him that you wouldn’t interfere”

“I know” I growled. Key chuckled and he started rubbing my shoulder absentmindedly.

“Personally I believe that you are being a little overprotective” he said calmly, looking again to the television “Besides Onew won’t do anything if you are around”

“Honestly, you are not helping” I said dryly. Key smiled and stood. “But it’s just that I can’t bear to sit here and watch him fondle my little brother…”

“Then let’s go shopping” he said cheerfully. I stared at him, hoping it was a joke “It will help you clear your mind”

“Shopping? Oh no, thank you very much…”

“Come on, it will be fun” Key took my hand and tried to put me on.

“I would prefer to be railed by a train” I said almost shouting, pulling my hand out of his grip. Key folded his arms and looked at me angry.

“Look, I just want to get out of here before they start doing things that I don’t want to see”

“That’s another reason why I should stay” I argued “I won’t let my little brother here alone with…”

“It doesn’t matter anyway” Key replied, dropping himself into the couch again.

I stared at him, utterly confused and feeling that something was wrong. No one would give up so easily, let alone someone that seemed as determinate as Key was. Unless…

That was when I noticed I couldn’t hear Jinki or Taemin anymore. I stood and turned to the table just to find it empty. Now I could understand the mischievous grin of Key.

“That wasn’t fair” I told Key angrily.

“I promised them they would have a calm date” Key said smiling at me “Besides, I don’t think you mind to be with me… Do you?”

“That’s not the point” I stuttered, nervous at the statement of Key “I can’t imagine what they would do if they’re alone…”

Key sighed.

“I was been serious when I said you are being overprotective” he said looking right into my eyes “Onew would never do something that could hurt Taemin, besides I think Taemin is capable of think what he does”

I opened my mouth, trying to find something suitable to say, but in the end I had to admit that he was right and that there was nothing I could do to stop it. Defeated, I sat again, trying to stay as far from Key as possible.

We kept watching TV a little more when a question appeared into my mind.

“This was idea of Taemin, right?” I asked Key. I felt really surprised when he shook his head.

“It’s my entire fault” he said smiling “I told them to get away when you were distracted”

A smile appeared in my face when I heard that. Key looked at me and then blushed slightly.

“Don’t misunderstand it” he said “I did it because Onew has been depressed without Taemin, not because I wanted to stay with you”

“So you think on that too” I said, grinning. Key’s blush became more evident as he shook his head again “You didn’t want to see me again?”

“I… well… I wanted to see you but… it was only because of Taemin, you know?” Key was really nervous. I couldn’t help but think that the way he was stuttering was adorable.

“Oh, then I’m sorry if you have to put up with me against your will” I said, trying hard not to laugh. Key rolled his eyes.

“Well, at least I won’t be here alone” he said shrugging. “Are you hungry? I can cook something for us since I doubt that they come back early”

I nodded and he got into the kitchen without saying anything else.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The door of the room opened softly making the wood crack a little, yet it was enough to wake me up. At first I thought it was Taemin but he was completely asleep at my side.

“Hey” Key whispered from the doorway “Come on, it’s late”

“Late for what?” I asked, still feeling sleepy.

“Just get dress, we must leave now” Key said turning to leave.

“I won’t go shopping with you” I said dryly, getting back in the bed and closing my eyes.

“We’re not going shopping” Key said pulling me out of the bed “Just hurry”

I looked at him confused, but soon I gave up and started dressing. Key smiled before leaving the room.

“I’ll wait you downstairs” I heard him saying from the hallway.

“What’s going on?” Taemin mumbled rubbing his eyes “Hyung, it’s still too early”

“I know” I sighed

“Where are you going?” Taemin asked, looking at my clothes.

“I don’t know” I confessed “Just go back to sleep, I’ll be back soon”

Taemin seemed to consider it a moment, before shrugging and lay down again. I closed the door as softly as I could once I got out of the room.

As he had say, Key was waiting for me in the living room.

“Hurry, we must arrive there before 9” the words came out of his mouth so fast that it took me a while to understand them.

“And where exactly are we going?” I asked as he pushed me out of the house.

“Just walk” Key replied, avoiding the question.

It was very hard to keep his pace, Key seemed really anxious to arrive to wherever we were going and he was almost running through the street, sometimes pushing people who looked at us angry. Finally we arrived to a huge fancy building and Key got immediately into the front door. I was about to follow him when the guard stopped me.

“Do you work here?” he asked me, looking at me from head to toe.

“Uh, no but…”

“You can’t get in if you don’t work here” he said.

“Come on” Key said walking out of the building “He is with me”

“No, sorry” the guard said “The boss will hang me if he finds this out”

“You’re being an idiot” Key said angry “If you have problems with the boss all you have to do is tell him to call me”

“But Kibum-shii, I can’t…”

“Oh, just shut up” Key said taking my hand and running back into the building. We ran through the lobby to the elevators and once there, Key pressed the button, desperate.

“It’s already too late” he sighed as we got into the elevator.

“Are you going to tell me what’s going on?” I asked frowning. Key looked at me, biting his bottom lip.

“I need you to do me a favor” he said, hesitant.

“And that would be?”

Key didn’t answer. Instead, as soon as the doors opened, he pulled me out of the elevator. We were now in what appeared to be an office, yet I was pretty sure it wasn’t since there were mannequins and fabric. At one side there was a huge table full of drawings, pencils and more fabric of different colors.

“Where are we?” I asked.

“This is where I work” Key answered, proudly “We’re one of the greatest fashion producers in all the country and I happen to be the main designer”

Key walked to the back of the room, leaving me in the middle of the room, startled and confused.

“Hey guys. Look what have”

I blinked “Aren’t we alone here?” but suddenly three figures appeared from nowhere. They were two girls and a boy, and they were looking at me intensely.

“He is perfect, Key” one of the girls shrieked. “Where did you found him?”

“He happens to be Taemin’s brother” Key said pushing me towards them “You know, Onew’s boyfriend”

“So you aren’t dating?” the boy asked, raising an eyebrow. Key rolled his eyes.

“No, and even if we were, it’s not of your business” he said angrily. The boy shrugged, trying to appear indifferent but I could see the apprehension in his eyes.

“So what’s your name?” the girl who spoke first asked. “I’m Seohyun”

“And I’m Taeyeon” the other girl said. “I think he would look great in blue”

“I think he would look great in whatever we give him” Seohyun said “Hey Key, does that suit still is in the storage?”

“It should be” Key said looking through the sketches in the table “Why don’t you go to check it?”

Seohyun and Taeyeon smiled and walked into the elevator, talking cheerfully of how that color would look great in me. The whole conversation had been meaningless to me until Seohyun mentioned the suit. That plus the fact we were in a Fashion House made me realize why I was there.

“Key, please tell that you don’t want me to be a model” I almost begged. Key looked away from the sheet he had in his hand and smiled.

“No, I want you to be my model” he said.

“Oh no” I shook my head, walking towards the elevator “I refuse to do so, this is even worse than go shopping”

“Stop right there” surprisingly the one who spoke wasn’t Key. The boy stood in front of me and looked right into my eyes. “You can’t just go and leave us like this”

“Of course I can” I said trying to surround him and walk out of there.

“Look, Onew was supposed to help me but when Taemin said he was coming he refused to do it” Key said “I don’t want you to be my model lifetime, just until de parade”

“No” I refused immediately.

“I’ll pay you whatever you want” Key took my hand and looked at me with puppy eyes “Please Minho-ah, this is really important for us”

“I don’t want to” I said, feeling awkward “And even I wanted to, I don’t know how to do it”

“It isn’t a big deal” the boy said folding his arms “You put the clothes on, walk in the catwalk and you are free. Is that too difficult?”

I frowned at his challenging attitude.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” I felt like he was almost expecting me to say that I couldn’t do it. Maybe was that or maybe was the pleading expression on Key’s face but suddenly I found myself sighing.

“Fine, I’ll do it”

“Great” Key said, relieved. At that moment, Seohyun and Taeyeon came back with a purple suit in a bag.

“Please, try on this” Taeyeon requested handing the suit to me. “This way…”

She stared at me and smiled sheepishly.

“Oh, I’m Choi Minho” I said, reaching my hand out to her. She gave it a soft squeeze and smile.

“Then, this way Minho-shii” she said leading me to a small office at the back of the room. “Take your time”

When I left the office in the suit, everyone turned to see me.

“Amazing” Seohyun said, approaching to me quickly “It suits him pretty well”

“Then we could use this” Taeyeon said, pointing to another drawing. I took a quick glance to the dark blue suit that was pretty similar to the one I had.

“It could work” the boy said taking the drawing “We could change some things, like the line of the shoulders and…”

Suddenly the sketch disappeared from his hands.

“No, he is not going to wear that” Key said, dropping sheet on the table again.

“But this is fine” the guy argued “And we don’t have…”

“He is not going to wear that Jonghyun” Key said through gritted teeth. Jonghyun looked at him frowning, angry at the treatment Key gave him.

“Then what you suggest we should do?” Taeyeon asked, confused. Key stared at me for a moment and then took a sketchbook.

“I’ll tell you tomorrow” he said before walking towards the office, locking himself there.

Jonghyun and the girls sighed when they heard the door lock click.

“Then we should get back to work” Seohyun said, taking some fabric from the table and taking it to another table next to the window. Taeyeon and Jonghyun followed her example and suddenly I found myself alone in the middle of the room.

“What I got myself into?” I thought as I sighed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

“Minho hyung is going to be a model?” Taemin asked looking at me, surprised. I rolled my eyes and refused to look elsewhere than to my plate. Key smiled.

“Well, I needed to work and you don’t want him around, so I thought it would be a good idea”

“I believe you are exaggerating, Key umma” Taemin chuckled.

“I’m sorry you have to do it” Jinki said sheepishly. I shrugged.

“It’s not that I have a lot to do”

“You’ll be busy from now on” Key said, standing up “Come on we have work to do”

“But I’m eating” I complaint. Key shot me a sharp glance before walking out of the room.

“You better go” Jinki said “When we talk about work, Key want it to be done when he says as he says”

Against my will I stood and went after Key.
