Author's notes: I swear I didn't wanted to do it. You see, I'd be writing this for almost a month, yet I can't finish it :( And now that I'm writing I found out that it's too long. So I'll have to do this *sigh*. Also I found out that I suck making summaries... I hope I can handle this... I hate writing serial fanfics.
EDIT 17/03/14: Soooooo... I had this betaed a while ago, but the girl who did it kind of dissapeared. And one day I was reading a (completely amazing) story by my favorite author in Asianfanfics,
liliac, and I thought that I could ask her for help. She agreed to help me, so she read this story and corrected it and I'm so thankful to her <3 Yup, this is it, have fun :3

(Chapter 1) (
Chapter 2)
It was a cold winter's day.
Perhaps it was just me feeling cold, though.
A little too cold.
I shivered lightly as the snowflakes from the sky gently kissed my cheeks. My eyes were slowly beginning to close while my breathing was becoming labored due to the freezing weather.
“Oh my,” I heard a distant voice as footsteps crunched in the snow towards me.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m fine”, I tried to say, but I couldn't get any words out of my throat. I suddenly felt the sharp pain in my hands that probably came from the numbing cold and realized that I could barely feel my legs as well. A twinge of pain shot across my chest, and I didn't seem to be able to move at all. I felt a certain someone kneel down next to me before some sort of soft fabric was wrapped around my neck, warming me up.
“How long do you think he has been here for?” I heard a second voice ask. I felt a warm pair of hands cupping my face.
“Probably a couple of hours” the first voice spoke once again.
“Let’s hurry up and take him inside.”
A strong pair of arms lifted me off the cold, snow-littered ground and placed me against something warm - from what I gathered was someone's chest as my cheek rested against it.
“Thank you,” I silently whispered in my mind.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upon opening my eyes, I found myself lying on a bed in a room with green walls. I couldn't tell where I was, but the warmth surrounding me comforted me, so I wasn't too bothered about that fact. However, my head was spinning as though I had slept for too long.
“Oh, you’re awake,” I heard a voice beside me say. I turned around to discover a young man with short, dark hair, a comforting smile and brown eyes that showed signs of relief yet caution.
"How do you feel?" He asked.
I blinked, trying to configure my thoughts.
“Hungry.” I muttered. The young man looked at me surprised, but let out a chuckle.
“I got you,” he said “I’ll be back in a moment”
I nodded slightly as he stood up and left the room. Within a few minutes, he was back with a steaming bowl of chicken broth and a large glass of water.
For some reason, my strength had been depleted. When I tried to sit up, it was to no avail.
“Here, let me help you,” the young man offered, placing the food on the table before carefully slinging his arm around my neck and pulling me up into a sitting position.
“Here,” he said as he passed me the glass of water, which I finished in one big gulp.
“Thank you,” I muttered, my voice still trembling a little.
“You see, I want to ask you some questions,” the young man said “but I guess that it would have to wait until you've eaten something.”
I nodded and he began feeding me. It felt a bit weird, and under normal circumstances I would have complained, but seeing as I was too weak to lift my arms, I had no other choice. As the first spoon of broth went into my mouth, perhaps it was because I was absolutely famished, but it tasted like glory. My companion smiled as he noticed my satisfied face once I finished the bowl.
“Your fever still hasn't subsided,” he frowned as he touched my forehead “how long had you been outside?”
I shrugged.
“A day? Maybe two...” I mumbled. The young man's eyes widened in shock.
“In this cold? What in the world were you thinking?” he asked. I bowed my head as he sighed.
“I guess you were real lucky that we happened to pass by.”
“I guess so.” I replied.
“Would you mind telling me your name?” he asked. However, I was pretty hesitant.
“I just want to know how I should address you.” He explained.
“Taemin” I answered softly. The young man smiled.
“Nice to meet you, Taemin” he said. “I’m Onew.”
I nodded politely at him.
“You don’t have to answer this if you don’t want to but seriously...what were you doing out there?”
That, I really couldn't answer him, hence I looked down and started playing with my fingers. Onew sighed.
“Well then, how old are you?”
“I-I-I’m seventeen” I stuttered.
“Geez, you’re just a child!” Onew said. I looked at him, upset.
“I am not!” I refuted.
“Well, forgive me for saying this but I don’t think that someone like you should be outside during a snowstorm” Onew pointed out.
“I know...” I said, trying to avoid the topic. Fortunately, at that moment the door opened, allowing another guy in.
“Is he fine?” He asked Onew.
“I guess so, but he still has a cold and a bit of a fever.” Onew replied.
“Should I turn on the heater?” the other guy inquired. Onew nodded.
“Thanks, Key” Onew smiled. Key nodded and left to switch on the heater.
“You should rest a little more” Onew said to me, standing up. “I’ll be back later”
I nodded.
“Hey, I'm sorry but,” I asked before Onew left the room “could you tell me what the date is?”
Onew turned to look at me.
“It’s 6th of July.” he answered “Monday.”
I nodded in thanks and lay back down to sleep. Onew then left the room.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Do you really think it's fine?” I was awoken by voices outside the door the next morning.
“Shouldn’t we be taking him to the hospital?” I heard an agitated voice.
“Could you please lower your voice? You’re going to wake him up!” Onew hissed.
“But you don't even know him, Onew!” Key said in a more hushed tone.
“I know, but I'm pretty sure he's in some sort of trouble,” Onew stated. “I mean, what other reason could there be for someone to stay out in the snow, for two days?”
“Yeah but-well, shouldn't we be calling someone? Like, you know, the police?”
As soon as I heard that, I sat up and was about to get off the bed when the door swung open.
“Key, I seriously can't believe how heartless you are!” Onew was about to reprimand Key when he noticed that I was awake.
“You had better shut up,” he whispered to Key.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” He approached me with a smile.
“If I'm too much of a hassle, I can leave.” I said, staring at the guy tailing behind Onew, who bit his lower lip in what I perceived as shame.
“Of course not!” Onew quickly replied, with a frown on his face. “You're still sick, so we can't let you go in this condition. Right, Kibum?”
“Y-yeah,” Key sighed.
I shot them a look of hesitance and doubt.
“Are you...sure this is okay?” I asked, posing the question to Onew.
“Yes we're sure.” Key took a step forward and answered.
“Okay look, it's not that we don't want to help you, but I would be more comfortable doing so if you'd just tell us why you were outside during such a massive snowstorm.”
I panicked as I looked at him. I didn't want them to know, no, I couldn't let them know. No one was supposed to know, and I couldn't possibly tell them.
Just then, I unconsciously started trembling.
“Hey, calm down,” Onew comforted me as he placed a hand on my shoulder.
“Key. It’s not that necessary, is it?” Onew turned to Key.
Key sighed.
“I guess so.”
“Anyway, the most important thing now is for you to get better and recover your strength.” Onew continued, with a reassuring smile that calmed me down.
Just like the day before, I needed Onew’s assistance to eat. I wasn't feeling as horrible as I was the previous, nor did I feel much of a cold, but I still pretty weak, hence for the next couple of days, I was relying largely on Onew to help me with daily activities (and Key, occasionally)
They were really nice, although I felt that Key was somewhat awkward around me. Apart from that, I could feel that they seemed to really care about me.
It was a strange feeling too.
No one in my seventeen years of life had ever cared for me the way those two did.
One day, Onew sat me down and started telling me about his life; that his real name wasn’t Onew and it was just a nickname (he refused to tell me his real name though), that he was model who worked for a big department store, endorsing whatever new products they came up with, and that he used his stage name so everyone would be able recognize him.
“So, you’re some kind of celebrity?” I asked.
“You could say so,” Onew shrugged. “It’s not like everyone out there recognizes me, but since I don’t work exclusively for a company, it's better if other designers are able to find me easily."
I nodded, trying to process what he had just said.
“Well, I hope that doesn't mean that you’re going to leave me,” Key said, entering the room with his hands behind his back.
Onew laughed.
“Of course not!” He said “But...we need the money, you know that.”
“Hmm.” Key answered, showing him what he was holding in his hands: a basin wrench.
“We really do need it. It's broken again...” Key trailed off.
Onew sighed for the umpteenth time.
“You're like some destructive little machine, you know that?" he said as he stood up."Take care of Taemin. I'll go check on that."
“Okay then, good luck” Key said while handing him the wrench.
Key stared at me for a while after Onew left, making the atmosphere awkward and uncomfortable.
“May I ask you something?” Key asked. I would have pointed out to him that he had already asked a question, but that was if it was someone else. But since it was Key, (who by the way, intimidated me) I chose to show my signature nod instead.
"Where are you from?"
“Sorry, what?” I asked, startled by the sudden question.
“I know you're not from around here.” Key said calmly “If you were, you would have recognized Onew. Everyone knows Onew around here.”
“Is that so?” I mumbled, still confused about Key’s funny tone.
“Would you mind telling me?” Key requested, trying to smile. I hesitated.
“Would you tell anyone else?”
“Not unless it was necessary.” Key assured.
However, I wasn't sure if telling him was altogether a very good idea. Key had made it clear that he wasn't completely agreeable to the fact that I was staying here without disclosing my name, or the reason I was outside during that snowstorm. Since he knew I wasn't from around here, he was most likely trying to get me back to where I came from. But in the end, I gave in.
“Jecheon,” I mumbled. Key looked at me, totally surprised.
“Wait, and you travelled here all by yourself?” he asked, trying to hide his flabbergasted tone. Well...that, I definitely wasn't going to answer. Hence, I looked away.
“Look, we’re just trying to help you.” Key insisted “Onew hasn't pressured you for answers, but he still is very worried. Worried that you've gotten into some kind of trouble.”
“And so what if I have?” I asked with a frown. “It's not actually any of your business.”
“Well actually, it is.” Key insisted, with a somewhat condescending tone. “You’re living in our house, you know. If you have some kind of problem, it could fall on us as well.”
“So you're seriously expecting me to disclose my personal information?” I asked, irritated.
“Yes, you owe us.” Key snapped back.
“Key, stop it.” Onew's voice was heard from the door.
Key turned towards the direction of the voice.
“We deserve to know,” he insisted once again.
“That's not up to you to decide.” Onew replied coldly. “Now go.”
Key clenched his fists and gave Onew a look of disappointment, but left the room without any complaints. Onew shut the door and approached me cautiously.
“I’m sorry about him.” He said “He’s just...concerned.”
I decided not to answer, earning a sigh from Onew.
“He’s a good person, really. He may be a little overprotective at times...and a real diva when it comes to something that he wants, but he's a good person." Onew smiled a little while I looked at him in askance.
"You know something? Key's a designer, so if things don't go the way he wants them to, he easily flares up."
I still didn't feel like responding. Onew looked at me, concerned.
“We won’t pressure you again, I promise.” He assured as he placed a hand on my shoulder.
I nodded reluctantly. Onew sat at the border of the bed, putting a hand on my forehead to check my temperature.
“You don’t have a fever anymore.” Onew smiled “But I think you should rest for just a while longer.”
Onew then pursed his lips, seemingly debating something in his mind.
”What are you going to do? After you've fully recovered, I mean,” he asked awkwardly.
I looked away, trying to find a way to avoid the topic. But then, I found myself asking the exact same question, to myself. What was I going to do?
“Could you tell me, how far Seoul is from here?” I enquired, though still looking away.
“About twenty miles away," he answered with a quizzical look on his face.
“So then, how can I get there?”
“Wait, you're not of going to Seoul all by yourself, are you?” Onew asked.
“I have to be there before the end of the week”
Onew shook his head firmly.
“No. You’re still sick. There’s no way I could let you go there alone.”
“But I have to, I must.”
“Why?”
I opened my mouth, trying to say find something to say. However, my throat was jammed. I bit my lip in hesitance.
“I'm sorry. I really can’t tell you”
“It's fine.” Onew sighed. “Since I promised you not to pressure you and you 'really can’t' tell me, I shan't probe any further. But take note, I'm definitely not letting you go to Seoul by yourself.”
“You can’t do that!” I cried.
“Actually, I can.” Onew affirmed. “You're still a minor, and if I allow you to travel such a long distance by yourself, in this condition, I could get arrested for negligence.”
“That’s not true!” I whined. I was really upset. I knew he was doing this so that I would end up telling him everything he wanted to know. And that wasn't fair.
“Too bad, I'm not going to take the risk.” Onew smirked “Now, go to sleep.”
I pouted as I slid back under the covers. That really wasn’t fair.
Not fair at all.
