Re Commenting on FanFic. Or Not.

I posted this earlier today on tumblr, where - predictably enough - it got zero engagement. It won't get any here either, but at least unlike tumblr I'll be able to find it again ( Read more... )

Hey DG, good to know you're still around! :) Alas I'm afraid I'm of no help with this subject at all. Either people like what you're writing or they don't. If anyone does actually like what I'm writing... well they keep very quiet about it, and there's nothing I can do about that is there? :(

As far as feedback goes, I've had virtually none since the heady LoM days when I once got quite a bit of it on the group and it inspired me to keep writing. Alas since then I've only written one fandom - a highly obscure one that no one has ever heard of because I don't think anyone watched the 2-part drama it's based on, or, as one person said, the wrong audience watched The Sinking of the Laconia. I only watched it myself out of curiosity and slash was the last thing I expected to find, but there it was hitting me over the head. ;)

With the exception of a stalker (I had to tell her to learn how to give feedback and stop her stalkerish behaviour) I get no feedback at all. And I do mean none. Several years ago I removed all my fic from LJ and transferred it to DW, but it made no difference. Still no feedback. The other problem is that at the time I got into my current fandom everyone else got into GoT, which is way too violent for my taste.

So I'm afraid I'm no help here. I guess I've learned to live without feedback (shrugs). It's a case of there's nothing I can do about it.

Anyway glad to know you're still around and hope you and yours are keeping well. :)

Footnote: Except for my current posts on FB I am no longer writing as these days my life is taken up with health issues. So if you should ever contact me and you don't get a reply you'll know what's happened.
