Finally found Broken available to watch for free, on UKTV. I just wish I could find out how to switch off the extremely annoying subtitles. Nothing happens when I click on the button that's supposed to do it.
I'm about three minutes in and already I totally believe in Sean Bean as Father Michael. He just is the character.
3:18 Fuck that made me jump. And he's standing there giving the service with that coming up at him. No wonder he said "Dear God, not this time." at the beginning.
4:00 If I didn't already have some idea of the story, I would have no idea that boy was supposed to be him. Couldn't they have found someone that looked at least a bit like young Sean?
7:40 Nice shot of the church at the top of the road she's crossing, dominating everything.
15:55 So far I'm hating the music, it's so intrusive. It's difficult to focus on what he's thinking when there's an annoying racket going on.
21:05 Honestly, I'm looking at this still of Father Michael and it's only the scar by his left eyebrow that's anchoring me to this being Sean Bean. He's done something different with his eyes.
36:35 Wherever this place is (?Liverpool?) it's remarkably empty. Not a soul on the streets.
42:50 "Maybe there are other things you could sell". And she's going for her mother's wedding ring omg.
56:00 I can see Neil Byrne in him here.
Ends just before he calls the police.
I suppose the original viewers would be wondering why these flashbacks are tied to him saying Mass (if that's what he's doing), but I guess it doesn't take a lot of working out.
