Superbowl Tuesday!

Most Americans look forward to Superbowl Sunday as the one day of the year when they can stay up late, eat junk food, drink heavily, and root for their team as if life in the free world was determined by the outcome of the contest. I have election day.

I'm very excited for tonight. My team (in blue) is looking pretty good coming into tonight. They have a history of choking, and the opponents (in red) have a history of taking advantage of moments when the referee isn't looking, but the red guys have been plagued with injuries of late, and since they won the championship a few years ago, they've been slacking quite a bit.

While the big title isn't at stake in this contest, the purse is still pretty heavy. To quote one of the red team's top players, it looks like the first half is a "slam dunk". The most conservative estimates favor the blues by 27 (and some up to 55), and they only need 15 to win.

The second half is looking to be more exciting. A real nailbiter. The blues only need 6 to win, but those are going to be a tough six points. The blues are being spotted 2 points, but then they need 4 of the following 6: Arizona, Missouri, Montana, Tennessee, Virginia, and Ohio. Arizona, Montana, and Ohio are looking good for the blues, but that 6th point is going to be tough to squeeze out of Missouri, Tennessee, or Virginia.

Overall, the challengers are looking really strong, despite recent misinterpretations of some statements made by their former quarterback last week. Worst case scenario, they'll be able to set up a solid defensive line against the red offense. With a little luck and effort, the blues may even get control of the ball, thereby taking the red's QB out of the game. I'll be watching carefully.

The bottom line: The game is going to come down to Missouri, Tennessee, and Virginia. If the blues can score a single point in any of those areas, their chances of winning the game are very good.

GO BLUES!
