Today is the start of winter--officially--and I couldn't be happier. It isn't that I love winter all that much--I grew up in Africa, so, uh, NOT a fan of the cold!--but I do love the fact that starting tomorrow, we will have increasing amounts of sunlight going into spring and then summer.
The nice thing about our weather lately is that although it has been absolutely, dreadfully, bitterly cold in the area, we've had nice sunshine to brighten the in between times of frigid night and freezing morning. I can put up with the cold as long as we either have sunshine and clear skies or snow. Otherwise, there is no point to the cold, imo.
Tonight is going to be a family Christmas get together at our place. I'm excited about that because it's lots of fun, and it will be good to be with family, especially to see how our three and a half year old nephew handles our two cats. Last year, there was only one cat to torture, so it'll be fun to see how much he flips out at the prospect of TWO cats to torture. :)
Anyway, from my heart to yours, enjoy this final night of darkness before the return to the light.
