Planning vacations used to be so much fun until the little people grew to be teens. Now it's hellish. My "clone" (daughter) is thrilled with my choice for vacation destination. "The Boy" could care less as he was there 2 years ago with me alone (sisterless).
Every attraction I suggest is like the best thing ever to my daughter and the boy just groans. I'm not sure if this is still sibling rivallry; his being negative towards everything his sister is positive about, or he REALLY could just care less.
When asked pointedly, he indicated he didn't want to go at all, he wanted to stay home and have the computer all to himself 24/7 for the 2 weeks we are away. Of course there is no way I'm leaving a 15 year old alone for 2 weeks and given the choice of coming with us or staying with relatives for 2 week (and subsequently not being allowed to stay up until all hours and sleep all day as he would do if alone) he begrudgingly chose to come with.
Now begins the task of deciding how to fill the first week while we are in Toronto/ Missassauga. Week 2 is in Niagara Falls and is pretty much planned (with the boy's blessings to all suggestions as we really only had a few hours there when we went 2 years ago)
So, what does one do with a 15 year old and a 16 year old in Toronto? The limiting factors are that the boy is afraid of heights and gets motion sickness so things like Canada Wonderland and the CN Tower are out. We also don't want to see or do things that we have here at home ie: IMAX. Also, we're using public transportation in Toronto. I refuse to drive there. So things have to be fairly accessable.
I've recieved luke warm responces to the Science Museum And The Royal Ontario Museum, the Zoo, and a Harbour Tour.
Medieval Times got the "thumbs up" as did the Playdium in Missassauga (where we are staying). Taking the PATH got a fair responce when I mentioned we could go see a new release movie if there were any movie theaters around. (there are a few movies coming out while we're away that we all want to see).
I'm open to any and all suggestions.
