I do not...understand. [The communicator is thumped against the counter -- it seems primitive, to her. There's a rapid stream of unintelligible language murmured under her breath, then she ( Read more... )

That is a fascinating array of languages you have. Though you may be more successful, were you to limit yourself to a single one.

That is...no longer possible. Everyone knows that, non?

Perhaps in your own world. Here, most rely on the use of a single language.

You will be hard pressed to find those who splice them as you do - And while I understand what you are saying, it may be difficult to phrase my sentences in the proper mixture of dialects for you to fully understand.

I am...sorry. Proper English is not my primary language.

You are by far the easiest for me to understand. You are...mmm...articulado. You speak very clearly.

It is the most pre-dominantly used aboard this vessel. Aside from Chinese, simply due to the sheer population of their country, it is one of the most widely used in the modern world.

Thank you, Miss...? I am versed in all of our universe's Earth languages, both past and present.

Ah, and my own designation is Ratchet.

Yes I...have heard the commotion on this...device. I do not understand it very well. I suppose if...I am not able to leave, I should brush up on my English, yes?

Lo siento, my name is Anna. [Wow. How...?] All...of them?

It is very nice to meet you, Ratchet.

That would be for the best.

It is a pleasure to meet you as well.

When I was researching your planet, I downloaded any recorded language I could find into my vocal databanks. I am also fluent in several non-Earth based dialects.

I will do my best.

Vocal...databanks? [wut?] What...do you mean? What non-Earth based dialects? [She's getting confused.]

Ah, of course.

I am not a human, like yourself. I am an Autonomous Robotic Organism - However, you may wish to call me an 'Autobot' for short.

I am capable of downloading languages into my vocal processors, so that I might speak in various languages that are not native to my kind. As I am not from Earth, that includes all of those from Earth.

A-a what? [She's horribly confused, though it's matching up a little with what the grumpy, rude one said.] Autobot. All right.

That...sounds like it would be very useful.
