I'm in Auckland!

I'm finally on holidays! :D

I didn't sleep on Monday night. Ben (my cousin, Maddiey's brother) picked me up at 3:30 in the morning and I had decided that I would spend the time before that doing final packing and stuff. I couldn't help thinking that I'd forget a million things but I know that no matter what I do, and how well I pack and plan, that will happen, so meh.

So Ben drove, and Evelyn (my aunty) was in the car to keep him company for the drive back. Jacci, another cousin, was flying from Sydney to Brisbane that morning so she was there as well, and of course Maddiey was there. Thankfully it is a big car!

The drive went well. We arrived at the airport at about 7am, and we went straight in to check in. At that stage there was no gate assigned to our flight so we were told to watch the boards. Fine, no dramas with that.

We grabbed some food, wandered through customs, and then went and did some duty free shopping. Margarita Mix and a bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila for $40? Bargin! We checked the boards and saw that our flight was due to board at 8:45 (my ticket said 10:45, and then when I checked the airline webpage a couple of days ago it said 9:45), and at gate 34. So at about 8:15 we wandered around to wait.

At 9:15 nothing had happened, nothing had been said, and we were starting to get worried. So I went and checked the board again. The time had changed, 11:15, the gate had changed, 56, and it also said it was completed! So we figured, well if it's saying boarding has completed we'd better get going. Even though the time listed was two hours away, who knew? Great start to the holiday hey! Spend the time in the airport!

When we got to gate 56 (Which was on the OTHER SIDE of the terminal!! SOOOOOOO far away!) there was nothing there. We could see out the window and there was no plane either. We started to get very worried. We'd checked in, they had our luggage, they hadn't said called our names or anything. Had they taken off without us? We went and asked some body, they sent us to the transfer desk, and as we went there we saw that the gate had changed to 36 this time. According to the people at the transfer desk, the plane hadn't even landed, and the gate could change again. We decided to wait and see, and grab a coffee as well. But eventually we went to the gate, and managed to get on our plane. At about 11:45!!!!!

The flight was pretty good. I watched 'The Darjeeling Limited'. It was actually really cool. I LOVE Adrian Brody. Very awsome. Even the lunch was ok. Just a turkey roll, but nice enough. I was worried, you see, because it was a really cheap flight!

Rhian was to meet us at the airport but we knew she wouldn't be there till about 7:30. So we hung around the Arrivals lounge (better shops to gaze in!) until about 7 and then went to Maccas (shameful but true. Oh well, it wasn't the FIRST place we went to when we arrived, so that's something right?) until Rhian showed up.

The night with Rhian was great fun! We had noodles for dinner, drank margaritas (well, Maddiey tasted one, Rhian and I drank a few) and played Scrabble. Amazingly enough I actually won. By a whole 2 points. I was very happy. Normally I lose by at least 100 points! Then we ended up playing a game that involved us trying to bat a scrunched up piece of paper between the three of us. It may sound lame, but we were all laughing so hard. Great fun!

Rhian had to work at 7, so she was up early, but Maddiey and I had the morning to ourselves. We'd planned maybe going for a walk or watching a movie, but when Rhian came back at 12:30 to take us into Auckland we were still asleep. We were sooo tired! It was good to get a lie in.

We made it into the hostel, and the room is pretty nice. We paid $10 for all you can eat Pizza and a drink, and that was our dinner. Before that we wandered around lots, checked out the shops, and figured out vaguely what we'll do for the next few days. I've got lots of piccies, of course, and I'm going to upload them to my webpage as soon as I get  the chance. I've found a programme on this computer that I can use to upload, so that's sweet too.

Anyway, hope you're all well. Feel free to post me a comment, so I can see if they're available for non livejournal users.

And I promise not every post will be so full of detail. Byebye
