time Connor was studiouosly not looking at his father as he pulled the first shirt that came to his hand over his head. He would have taken some comfort in the fact that Ollie was laughing, if it weren't for the distinctly hysterical edge in his father's voice. Kyle was making an attempt at calming Ollie down, but so far he was having no success; Connor put that down to the fact that Kyle was *only* wearing a t-shirt, and not even a particularly long one. It took Connor a few moments, but he located Kyle's underwear and passed it to him, giving him a gentle push in the direction of the bathroom. He still refused to look at his father, not even after Kyle had made his exit.
“Please stop laughing,” Connor finally said. “It’s worrying when you laugh like that.”
Ollie made a noise not unlike a sob, trying to draw enough air into his lungs to properly answer. “I-I-I knew-” he gasped out, leaning against the wall for support. For a moment, Connor and Ollie’s eyes met, and Ollie broke out in another round of hysterical giggles. “You could have just told me you were gay.”
Connor looked towards the closed bathroom door. He could hear water running in the sink, so Kyle was clearly trying to gather his own thoughts. Connor was on his own.
“It’s not something I thought about. It’s not something I ever thought about, Dad.” Connor remained perfectly calm, a true testament to his years in the monastery. Ollie finally calmed down enough to be coherent, standing up and running a hand over his beard.
“I’m going to the kitchen to get a drink,” he said. “If you wanna talk to me, that’s where I’ll be.”
“Okay.”
“Don’t bring Kyle.” Ollie added. “I don’t- I just-” Connor nodded, and his father made his retreat. Connor was already calculating how much time he should give his father, plus how long it would be before Kyle was going to come out of the bathroom. More than enough time in both cases to get fully dressed. Then he would deal with the drama.
