Ted watched the wormhole swirling like a freshly flushed toilet through the craft’s view screen, then swiveled his chair around to face his daughter. “So your father tells me you haven’t been applying to any colleges.”

Becca winced, then sighed. “Daddy, I don’t think this is the time or place.

“Princess, we’re going to be sitting here for the next four hours. Plenty of time to talk about this.”

Becca leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes. “Look, I just don’t see the point,” she explained. “I’m a super-hero, I only want to be a super-hero. I don’t need a degree for that. I mean, you’re a hero full time…”

“I still went to college,” Ted countered.

“You have a BA in Art History,” she replied.

He ran his tongue over his teeth, thinking. “They offer a degree in Super-Human studies at NYU.”

“I don’t need a degree in Super-Human Studies. I’ve sat in on the classes, and you know how they get most everything wrong.” Becca rolled her eyes.

“It’ll make your father happy.”

This only made Becca roll her eyes again. “Unlike Jeff, I am not in the habit of doing things just because they please Poppa.”

“Bobby’s going to Brown.”

“Then that should please Poppa plenty.”

Ted ran a hand over his face and sighed. “Just tell me you’ll think about it, okay, Princess?”

“I’ll think about it,” she finally conceded, “but I’m not gonna make any promises.”
