Jessica sidled up to Peter, a look of bemusement on her face. “Johnny knows, right? That I’m your clone? I mean, he was around during the whole thing. So he knows, right?”
Cold dread curled in the pit of Peter’s belly. “I dunno. I thought so. Why?”
“Roses,” Jessica said. “He gave me roses.” She and Peter grimaced in unison.
“Oh God.”
“I know!”
“But he’s -- and you’re --” Peter raked his fingers through his hair. “Oh God.”
“Are you saying I’m not a hot chick?” Jessican asked with a hint of a sly smirk. Peter looked at her and whimpered.
“Why?” he asked. “Why do people say these things that I can’t unheard?”
“Because you make this funny face,” she admitted. “So he doesn’t know?”
“I,” Peter paused, grimacing. “I don’t know what’s worse, if he does or if he doesn’t. Since you’re, y’know. Me.”
“Yeah.” Jessica grimaced too. “Now if we were talking about Mary Jane or Kitty-”
Peter sighed. “And again, these things I can’t unheard.”
